Portia Masterson
It has been a decade but BF surfaced my long time friend Portia Masterson formerly of the Self-Propulsion bike shop in Golden, Colorado. I frequented her shop from 1977 to 1987 when I lived in that area. Some ten years later I was picking up passengers at John Wayne Airport in southern California when She came out onto the loading area. "Long Time, No See Portia Masterson" I said. She paused, stared, then had an AHA moment and said my name. She was down there for Interbike or some such event. Now, another 10 years later she is mentioned on BF when a new commuter asks for advice on cycling. I'll be getting a copy of her book, "Bicycling Bliss" then try for an autograph.
