Telemachus has, indeed, sneezed.
Hot day, nasty climb, old woman. Bad combination! Sea Otter Classic Cat 4 women's road race.

Life is good in the drops...
[ok I'm not in the pic, but F it.. trying to find my pics from last weekend]
This is one of the reasons upgrading to the 2's will be awesome - at the Tour of Walla Walla the p12 field gets the whole road!
Plus I'll be able to get my ass kicked by pros - A. Borrajo & some other domestic guys showed up this year.
It will be.. fun? Well at least I won't have to worry about that stupid center line any more at this race.

Believe me, I've never hurt more than at that exact moment. My legs felt like burning cement.
Somewhere in the world there is someone training when you are not.
When you race him, you will lose.

Golden State P123 Crit.
At this point, I was seriously wondering if I could keep my lunch down long enough to finish the race. Luckily, I did.

Winning. (and suffering)
This is at the top of the climb, false-flat with the 200m sign back in the distance. Jumped from 4th wheel right after the sign and stuck it.

Boom!!! And advancing a few shots, the rider in the red & black kit, who looks to have come in third, shows some serious agony when sitting up after crossing the line...and the fellow in the black kit on the left (as you look at photo) reminds me of a recent Modern Family episode with his smile-of-pain as he approached the line.
Training low-tech/old-school style with my srm in "Siberia" (like Rocky IV) in preparation for the 2012 racing season.

Nice pictures people
So ... what does "burning cement" feel like, actually?
Well, my legs seemed like they wouldn't move while simultaneously being on fire. Seemed appropriate.
