Hi everyone! done reading most of everyone's posts and finally get to put up my own.

Name's Harold, 24, from San Jose and just finished school from san jose state. My free time lead me to this forum after purchasing parts from a seller on craigslist. I will be pretty active the following days and want to ride as much as possible!

I haven't ridden with much other roadies and am very interested cycling with others around the area! Message me if you have a ride i can tag along in!

Hi everyone, I'm Evan. I live in San Jose and work in South San Francisco. My wife and I are getting back into riding, first time for her, been many years for me. I used to work at Wheelworks in Davis, back when Dave owned it if anyone is familiar with history...


Seems everyone is posting what they ride, I'll follow suit. I've got a custom steel Innerlight Road (built just outside of Davis). Ordered a Campy Centaur groupset for it to replace the old Shimano it's had for years. Sure isn't the fanciest thing out there, but I sure love the way it rides. Anyways, just wanted to say hello, perhaps I'll see some of you on the road.

Hi, I'm Cliff,

I rode the Steel is Real ride on 8/30 and the Mt. Hamilton ride on 9/1, so I've met some of you.

I started riding about three years ago when my son started riding for his college team (UCSD). Cycling has been great at letting me cut back on my running and still keep the weight down.

I also like how much you can spend on it. There's nothing better than spending money on sports equipment. I thought golf was bad, but cycling spending is quite addictive.

I live in Moraga and only ride on the weekends, mainly in the Berkeley-Oakland hills.

My new bike is two weeks old and I'm very pleased with it. It's amazing how much faster it is on the descents.

My name is Joyce; I live in San Bruno. (this is the first forum i've joined)

I've been reading the posts and looking at all the pictures; seems a nice place to be. I think I've seen some of you on the area rides--hard to say since i'm older (50's) and somewhat new to cycling (so, slow and the blue jerseys were a blur). This past summer made it through the Wine Country Century, the Giro and the misguided metric version of the Holstein ride. It takes me forever to finish and i'm barely coherent afterwards, but the scenery is incredible (Tunitas Creek, the first half of the wine country ride, anything near the ocean...) and i've met some really nice people along the roads. I'm not from this area (grew up in northern Michigan), but feel very lucky to live and cycle around here for awhile.

Since I've been reading (lurking?), i thought I should introduce myself. Many of my rides are on the peninsula (I work in the San Mateo/Foster CIty area) and down towards San Jose.

My name is Andrew, been lurking around here for a while now. I live in San Jose area near Blossomhill and Almaden. I'd been riding off and on for a few years, just casual riding and enjoy the scenery.
I only ride steel bike because of the smoothness, can't take alum or carbon stiffness.

I'm new here as well, and to biking in general but I've been interested in it for a while now but I just got my first bike. It's in the bikes thread too but its an 08 Cannondale Synapse SL3 compact. I won't have any reason to upgrade any pieces on it for a long time for sure.

Anyway, I'm Justin. I'm 25 and obviously live in Petaluma. I try to ride a little bit every day even if its just over to my friends house a few blocks away or the bank. I'm also currently somewhat passively looking for some riding friends to do short rides with. Unfortunately I'm still pretty darn slow.

More specificaly i am from Holland and live in the peninsula. Me an my wife brought 4 dutch bikes. but are transferring to chinese bikes without mudgards and with more gears.

It is SOO cool that cycling is a lifestyle here.
When we got here we bought our first car. I thought it was the American Way.(but i regret it often)

Now we live car light and cycle el camino real on a daily basis.

I'm new around here. I commute from Alameda and do weekly long rides into or over the hills (usually over to Diablo. This was my year of centuries starting with Death Valley Spring and including back-to-back Wine Country / Grizzly Peak. I'm doing my first double in October in Death Valley.

I ride a Trek 520 with a few modifications (Brooks B17, 28mm tires, and a SON dynohub with EdElux on order.)

Next year is my year of the Double Century. I'm looking at Death Valley Spring, Solvang, Davis, Mount Tam, and Death Valley Fall. Maybe a few of the shorter brevets just to check out the scene.

I like to go long.

Well, my name is Linda and I ride a Trek 7.7FX..I actually just started riding last weekend. I rode 44 miles on the American River Bike trail, Sacto to Folsom and back- now I'm hooked. I'm going to do it again this weekend! I"m 60 yrs young and have 4 grandkids - the oldest is 5 and they are way too fun.
My passion was my horse and riding endurance races, (things change) and now I'm in a condo so I'm switching it up. I also have a kayak and I do love to paddle.
I would love to join a cycle club but at this point I am too slow and not that great on the hills. I am reading alot of your posts and so far I have really learned alot. I can't wait to put some of the tips to use.
Just learned about cadence...I'll try for 80...I have no idea what mine is at this point...I'll probably never share -once I do learn...lol
This is a great site and I'm glad I found it. I'll be checking in now and then..

Welcome Linda. Sacramento has a large and diverse cycling community. I would look into the Sacramento Wheelmen. The core members of the group are mature guys/gals and if you can do 44 miles on the ARBT you can do most of the rides no problem. They have a lot of weekday rides that utilize the ARBT too. www.sacwheelmen.org
Another club that is a little more low-key is the bike hikers. Don't know their web address though...
