I rode all the way to Ohio today! Sounds good, but it's just 62 miles or so for the day. I wonder how many immediately thought of Ohio, IL and if anyone else on this board knows of where I speak without having to look it up....

There are no thrills if there are no hills!

It seems that even with a little wind at my back it is still so hard to get up to speed and keep a good rhythm.
I guess I will give it a shot again later today. I hate to miss at least a short ride on a nice hot summer day.

Just finished 17 miles at 17.3mph. Friggin heat and humidity is a killer.

30 miles on one of my normal weekday routes. So hot and muggy I think my helmet was even sweating. All the same a good ride- good average speed. Tomorrow I'm getting up early to ride!
oh bla di.
8/8 - Commute. Didn't make it far before I T-Boned a dog. Read about it here.
For those from this area it occured right in front of the casino in downtown Elgin.

Ouch.... I know right where you talking about. Almost had the same thing happen.
WOO FRIGGIN HOO!!!
I got into the 26 minute range (no aero gear) on my 10 mile TT tonight!!! (plus 6 miles there and 6 back gave me 22 for the day)
8/8 Third straight day of hard riding (for me) with some steep climbs. My new back wheel arrived for the road bike and worked fine. 31 1/2 miles at a 17.3 avg. I was dropped by the "A" group on the Happy Valley Hill. I had them in my sight when we hit the flats on CTH W and thought I could catch, but one chasing 8 didn't work for me so dropped back to the "AB" group.

Road the MUP last night. 21 miles at 16.2 avg. But I felt cramps were coming. Something with my nutrition wasn't right.
Gelato aficionado.
I've finally gone out for my first two Chicago rides since moving here - did the Lakefront Path from 11th St south to the end and back (approx 19 mi total from my front door at Michigan and 13th) each of the last two afternoons, and will go out again today sometime around 3-4pm.
At this point I'm just trying to get my lungs back b/c I haven't been out since moving here in April, but the second ride was already much better than the first, and I expect today's to improve again.
I'll be the tall, winded guy in the dri-fit t-shirt and black baggy shorts on the blue cannondale with silver trim...
I did 47 today 16.5 avg. I think I lost 10 lbs. of water, it was hot here and the humitity sucked.

Within 24 hours I pulled 84.2 miles (@only 15.1mph)
A 19 mile ride Friday night, commute to work Sat morning (Pleasant Prairie to Great Lakes).
After work to Ravinia and back.
When I got to work I had in about 40 miles @ 16.3mph, so you can see how much I struggled in the sun today.
I don't think the numbers were staggering, but for some reason I was VERY HOT. If you saw a cyclist laying down on the side of the road, it was me!

40 miles today. First ride for this month after a spill on a twilight ride the end of last month. Feels good to be back on the saddle.
Today was Tour de Suffer. 47miles in 92 degree weather in the full sun. I only had 4 quarts with me which I had completely gulped down when I got home. I had steady headwing against me which didn't help me at all.
After I swung my butt on the scale it showed 192.7, before I started the ride I was at 196.8
Distance 47.4 miles at 16mph avg.
I think I need more hydration.
Gelato aficionado.
15 mile recovery ride today. A nice slow pace. Sunny with a breeze- nice day.
