Trust me, I gota good ride in. Like 20 miles, but I'm not used to riding hills on a fixed gear bike with no brakes with that strong of a gear ratio...I think the muscles right above my kneecaps are torn in half. I was gonna go to the local drome last night after I got off work, but it was pouring outside.

Still working on this project. But it is close enough to post a pic.

race bikes. one in race gear, the other in training mode

and the joys of taking a day off from work and getting out and having early morning workouts before the sun starts beating down...empty track save for 1 other early morning warrior.

Eh, I'm happy with it for an intro bike. I need a new wheelset, and probably some tires other than gatorskins... but it sees LOTS of miles on the street as is.
And Alkek is the only velodrome I've been to... others just look soooooo flat.

    No lugs, no care.

    Why is that?
No racing... just practice sessions so far. I have them on both bikes, and use mountain and road shoes with them so they fit what i need.
I had wondered if they had too much float and would pull out... but never had an issue (street or track).
But, I'm also a lightweight at ~125lbs... so I'm no powerhouse either.

on more than one occasion i've had the misfortune of somebody in the field pull out in front of me in a sprint that was using eggbeaters. very dangerous. the tension, i feel and most people agree, isn't strong enough to safely race or put serious exertion on.

My newest ride. 2010 trek t1 in a 60cm. already swapped out a 140mm bontrager carbon stem since I will also be commuting to work with this. Plan on taking it to the track his summer a lot and upgrading components over time. Hopefully the wheels will hold up with the chicago streets!

The bars are comfortable at that angle when holding on the drops. The picture makes it look more dramatic though.

The point of the stem is that it is longer. Not that it is carbon. Its very strong and shouldnt have any problems.

Sorry man, but I don't see why you bought a track bike. Judging by how you have the bars set up, with the huge stack of spacer, upright stem, and the bars tweeked so far up…. you probably would have been more fit on a beach cruiser or other upright, cruising bicycle.
