Safety Light LED Recommendations (Be-Seen Lights)

Any recommendations for safety (to be seen) lights? I already have a to see system underway, but wanted one extra level of safety.

Something with a flash mode, and fairly small.
Any other suggestions aside from the following, or reviews of the following:

I have heard about the Knog Frog and the Knog Toad.


MEC turtles.


There is also the Princeton Tec EOS which has a 1-Watt Luxeon LED bulb that flashes, really bright.


There is also the BLT Lights Flare DX 7X 16,000 MCD LEDs really bright

Here on BF the PB Superflash is almost universally considered the best rear blinkie - if only we could have one for the front end of the bike!

I have used both the Knog Frog and MEC Turtles as be seen lights.

This is the set up I used last weekend during our Clubs Midnight Howeler Ride






I'm actually fond of this Filzer Ibeam for general use



It shows up very nice on it's own. I have it stacked with a Planet Bike Super Flash in the photo above.

Is there video of that light in action? IS it brighter then the Dinotte?

I just came to the realization that you can buy one of those generic Power Beams from dealextreme for like $5.00 and it will be as bright as the $50.00 BLT Ultra Doppler DX. WTF?

I compared the intensity and they are so similar it is uncanny!

I just got the planet bike super flash, but was disappointed with the output. Its no where as bright as my existing s-sun 120r light, which is significantly brighter and can be focused or de focused for a wider spread.

However, cars will avoid the Superflash like the plague.

I have a pair of Superflashes mounted together. Cars yield a whole lane around me. One car slowed to a crawl just to look at me. Another cyclist said, "WoW! Killer Lights!" as he rubbed his eyes and pulled over.

So no S-Sun, but I would trust the Superflash over the S-Sun any day.

superflash used here also.. I find it much more versatile than the LD-1000 it replaced..

I been thinking of trying a fenix as a taillight in SOS mode, mounting on the seatpost with a twofish lockblock.. I am afraid that the strobe mode would be too powerful..

why not use two?

use two 2X S-Sun
and 2X Superflash

that way no cars will hit you from behind!

10 better than two...probably not, it may distract traffic

3 superflashes would keep you safe, maybe 4, but no more

have at least one pair together

I used to have a PB Superflash until it fell off my backpack and got lost. I like the performance, size and flexibility of the PB Blinky 7's (have 3 of them) but it seemed to me that the Superflash had almost no off-axis visibility. If you're looking directly into the main lens it's very bright but move off by just a few degrees and it falls way off (to the point that I sometimes couldn't tell it was on in anything brighter than dusk).

In my opinion there is no brighter tail light than the Dinotte. It is expensive and worth every dime (remember when we used to say "every penny"?).

Before you buy, be sure and check them out.
