Just picked this up. Traded some MTB trials stuff for Time Trials.

Figured I might as well try to kill myself on this...

^ Probably won't kill yourself, but may render yourself impotent if you don't adjust the seat.

He's not getting too far without the chain either.

    It's for downhill time trials.

    Wow, you guy's are tough!!

I find the chain to be to much of an aerodynamic drag. As far as the seat goes, you would be surprised how fast you try to get away from something poking you in the butt.

Sorry for dragging this post up, but I haven't been able to take a pic until now. I just like looking at all those TT machines out there.

This is my beast--I managed to get some personal bests out of her this year so I'm happy with it. Now I just need a power meter and a new front wheel (808 or trispoke) and I'll be a happy man.

I'd say go with the Trispoke, to keep the look consistent. The data indicates a Trispoke and an 808 are pretty close to a wash, and the trispoke is a little cheaper.

Just saw this come up again -- here's my new/old rig. Custom steel frame that wasn't built for me but fits well enough to where it might as well have been. I paid $575 for it, minus the wheels. Rode a century on it this past Sunday...not a great idea.

    Nice ride!

Try switching out your stem for something a few centimeters higher.

I find long rides to be *more* comfortable in the aero bars. Less weight on the saddle, no weight on my hands.

It's comfortable enough for 40-50 miles, though I am about at the limit of my neck movement looking forward. This bike is about 1.5" lower in the front than the lowest position obtainable on my old tri bike. I am faster like this; still need to get the Powertap on it to check the power #s but I don't want to move it up.

I had two issues Sunday; one was that I did about 50 miles too hard with one other guy trying to catch a front group that had snuck away in the first couple of miles. We never quite made it up and I was just cooked in the latter half of the ride (just the two of us all day). The second issue is the basebar hand holds; they aren't super comfortable when I'm sitting behind someone and can't use the aerobars.

The longest races I do on the TT bike currently are half IM tris; if I ever do an IM on it, I'll use a higher stem and/or a different base bar.

This is me feeling sorry for Bicycle dad and because he has a bike worth showing off.

Finished the first build. Added a chain (should be faster with one ), swapped the seat and picked up a pair of Zipp 303's. Total cash outlay is $800.00 for the wheelset complete. The rest was either traded or lying around. I was surprised how twitchy these are compared to a regular road bike. Just need to dial in my position and I'm off to the races.

So YOU'RE the guy who outbid me on bootsie's old bike!

Congrats, it's a looker. Dangit, if I'd just had a little more coin, I'd be posting the same pic.
At least I offer my own disaster.
