True, that we all should use common courtesy during our discussions on any topic and try our best to be inoffensive but let's be careful about closing or limiting topics because we find them uncomfortable or because they get a little heated.
This ability to converse and exchange ideas and viewpoints is what made this country great. You never know, we might learn something if we are not careful.
Joe please do not punish all of us for the transgressions of a few. Deal with the violators directly and let us adults have a meaningful conversation be it popular or not.

I don't see the problem with any of the threads Joe closed (unless I missed one). They were all given plenty of time and we all had ample opportunity to express points of view. I have placed a temporary ban on myself from talking about politics and religion, not because I have a problem with these two issues, but rather because the discussions were getting personal and were basically going over the same ground.
If someone has something new to offer to those discussions, I may change my mind.

I closed one for name calling, and insults, i later removed thoes insults from there posts. The other thread i close as it was going well off topic, i let people know they could re-start that new topic in a new thread
