We have not removed the flashing mode from our LED lights! We offer two different categories: Safety and High Power LEDs. The High Power, "Black Edition" is something that is brand new for SIGMA for 2008 and is currently not available.
All SIGMA safety LED lights (sold in North America) have flashing modes. We started off with constant and flashing, now many of our newer lights have multiple flashing modes. (Quadro, Tailguard...) "Ziemas" is correct in saying that flashing modes are illegal in Germany, but for the North American market, all of our safety lights have and will continue to have the flashing mode(s).
The new "black edition" lighting systems are our high powered LED lights. They are part of our "off road" or "high powered" lighting category like the halogen Evo + Evo X sets. Unlike the safety LED lights, the "black edition" light sets do not have flashing modes. They were designed with night time riding as the primary focus. (adventure races, 24hr races, night rides, commuting after dark....) We wanted to create a line of bright, light weight light sets with long burn times. With that being said, due to the extreme brightness of an LED, the new "black edition" light sets will allow you to "see and be seen", even without a flashing mode!
Thanks,
