The battery is a Polymer Li-Ion 36V 10A, located in the rear hub, the motor is 250W (450 peak power) located in the front hub, the bike has disc brakes front and rear, weight is only 55 pounds, 26 inch tires, bike folds for easy storage. My current project is mounting a Briggs and stratton Etek up to a 20" Cromoly trek. I'm hoping to have a beast on my hands.

I'm trying to keep the center of gravity as low as possible with the battery down below the bottomtube, and the profile slim and aerodynamic. I'll get some updates on here as I make some progress, I just need to finish the one more battery box, get it wired, and redo the sprocket which isn't quite true.

Hi all. Here is my electric cruiser that built from a couple of mountain bike frames that I picked up free from verge rubbish.
The motor/controler is from Cyclone Taiwan. 48V 1000w brushless
Batteries 4 x 12V 20Ah SLA AGM.
Charger from Kipoint (ebay)
The rear wheel is 20" with a 3 speed hub. The small wheel makes a good space for the motor in a 26" frame.
Top speed on level ground is 57km/h, range is very limited at this speed.
It will cover 10km at 35-40km/h, or 20km at 25-28km/h
It averages 19wh/km. I tend to only get 3-4Ah out of the batteries, ie around 200Wh.
The batteries have done about 700km now and seem to be getting very tired.
I am looking for a 20Ah LiPoFO4 at the moment, as I want more range and less weight.
Anyway I am really happy with the motor, really powerful and reliable and the bike is fun to ride with it's laid back riding position.

Help yourself to the ideas and save what you like.
The tensioner works well as long as you have it on the slack side off the chain and it as to be well aligned with the rear sprocket. The pivot of the derailleur has been reversed and different springs used because the original spring tensions in the opposite direction.
I have done 700km with this set up and never thrown a chain.

I bought a flat black Greenline 7-speed beach cruiser and I pealed off all the decals plus stripped the red paint off the rear rim and the black painted spokes. I added black foam to the beach cruiser handlebar and a black bell w/a painted 8-ball. I also bought a double bicycle kickstand and installed a black wired front basket. I have my tire repair kit in a saddle bag Velcro to my front basket (a temporary location until I get a new rack and panniers setup).

The power assist is a Wilderness Energy BL-36 (2007 brushless model?), 600 Watt, 36 volt (50 AMPS) system with the extended range battery pack (three - SLA 12volt, 12 amp/hr batteries).

Anyway I bought this 1998 Trek 7000zx used for 500.00 in 1999.
Super light bike with like 13" frame. Weight was 24lbs.
With Bionx kit the bike is in the 40lb range. I can still lift it over my head.

Got the bionx kit in June of 2007, it almost June 2008 and I have 1900miles on it.

What I love is that it's still very light compared to other bikes.
Ride on train tracks to get to city, still go on Trails "find one near you --> mtbr.com".
and do roads of course. I 've ridden it in the snow, and rain. No problems, other
then flats once and while.

Here's the BionX 250 I built for my wife's commute. She already owned and loved the Gary Fisher Marlin--a bit of a hybrid with a crank and components better suited for the road than for the trail. It's a 16" frame that fits her well, and we were drawn originally to the BionX system for that reason. Other electric bikes we looked at were built on a medium-large frame that were too tall and too long for her. Also, she wanted to preserve the riding experience and BionX seemed ideal for that. She had one stipulation: that I not ruin the feel of her bike. She grins when saying that I haven't.

Hi everyone. I just purchased this CT Izip a month ago. I did a few modifications since getting it. I added a second battery on the lower bar to extend my range. My commute is 30 km total and I can not recharge at work. The weight is equally distributed and the center of gravity is low. It is plugged in parallel using a slightly modified computer supply cable. The wire coming into the battery under the seat connects inside. Both batteries are discharged equally and I can recharge both together with the battery charger. I bought a second seat post and switch between using a hard case luggage or a trail-gator bar in seconds to tow my son.

I have two ebikes and sometimes drop one off to recharge and jump on the other. Before you dismiss the Reitti as the original piece of junk, look closely. I like the plastic and frame but that is all that is left. I have even integrated the charger inside the plastic shell. That is a WattsUp meter on top of the battery. That is an internal 3-speed hub on the rear wheel. I have upgraded the 24V to 36V and kept breaking plate SLAs so now I only buy the Hawker Cyclone spiral style batteries for either ebike. They both fit on the bus bikeracks so I get around town real easily.
