8th September 2003 - The day has arrived

It's 5:32 am and I've just woken up. In a few hours I'll be riding off into the distance on the first day of a 32 day odyssey across Australia.

Anything that hasn't been prepared as yet is too late. It's now time to ride.

I've been waiting for this day for a couple of years.

The nerves are mixed with excitement as we head towards an incredible adventure.

    Hobart - here we come.

Go Rodney! My words are not enough, so here are some of His for your trip...
"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Colossians 3:17 NIV

I'll be looking forward to reading your reports, Godspeed.
"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the de@d , you will be saved." Romans 10:9 NIV

There's not a lot of internet access along the way. The first day went very well.

We rode 97km with most of it being hilly. We started the hilly section on Greenmount hill which goes up for 6km.

All were tired but exhilliarating after the first day.

We have 32 riders and 8 support crew.

I'll post pictures if I can get to more than an internet booth.

I'm finally starting to add a few pics.

Here's part of the team in Forrest Place in the centre of Perth getting ready for our send off.

The second shot is me addressing the crowd and letting people know what we are about to do.

The third shot is me on the road on the first day.

Lots of smaller rides with another big one in 2006.

    Interested in cycling across Australia?

I don't know about Ritz, but I just might be. Hold that thought.
