My response would have been something along the lines of: "Does your bike have computer controlled suspension? Then shut your piehole, this baby is from the future!"

Fantastic stuff! really! Much talent has been shown in this thread! I was good at one time but had an accident in High School that kinda ended my future in art Ill go over to my dads this afternoon and see if I can find something, I doubt it but Ill look anyways
You see, their morals, their code...it's a bad joke, dropped at the first sign of trouble. They're only as good as the world allows them to be. I'll show you. When the chips are down, these...These "civilized" people...they'll eat each other. See, I'm not a monster. I'm just ahead of the curve

All I can is 'wow' !
Very humbling. This stuff is great !
Artifice....Your stuff has sort of an old world(?) feel.
    Very moody. Awesome

With the onset of computers it seems people who do stuff
with pans, inks, Dr. Martin Dyes, Rapidographs etc are getting
less. It had a huge impact on my career when newspapers and
printshops went to Mac typesetting. I love the computer stuff too,
but my heart is still with just picking up a pen or pencil and
    letting go.

Thanks! I've been interested in doodling since elementary school- took a few extra-curricular classes. By High School I was really interested- in college I received a BFA in Art with a concentration in Multimedia (web) design. At the time, the program required a lot of traditional fine art courses. These days, its more computer-based.

I haven't picked up a pencil since I left my undergrad program (sad).

The ones that look like paintings are actually from a mono printing class. I've never painted in my life

You think so? Might have been the process on some of them. The pencil sketches are also on newsprint in brown.
i woke up one morning and i stepped out of bed | had to get a bike, had to paint it red

It reminded me of something that I would be looking at at an outdoor cafe in
some mystical place I might read/dream about in Conde Nast .....Really.
If the reason I think you picked 'Artifice' as a name is correct, you're waaay
past that stage in the Guild

Waddya waiting for !!! Post up !!!!

Here is a very quick cartoon I did for a newspaper ad that got printed
in The Daily Local News for any Philly area ppl !

The 'SCCA' in the background is supposed to simulate a safety cone
due to the guys who drove those little cars flying around those cones
    all over the parking lot.

    yep !

Heres another real simple one that was 'sposed to be reduced waaaay
down to be a thumbnail illustration at the end of an article.

Back then(79-'83) I could only assume how much something would lose
when it got blown down so the graininess is sort of calculated.

thats very cool mirona! mmm something very hot about a guy who's artistic

So this thread actually inspired me to get back into art (took a 2 year vacation post-college-- I was burnt out!)
I ordered an easel from Blick and it just arrived the other day. woo!
i woke up one morning and i stepped out of bed | had to get a bike, had to paint it red

Good for you Arti! Don't let that talent go unexpressed.

I got my wife an easel and paints for her last birthday - I was so happy when she requested that. She does not consider herself an artsy person, but I've seen the few things she's done and they are really quite good - and that's with hardly any effort, no training, etc. I'll try to get a post of something she's done on here at some point.

The toughest thing is making the time for this stuff...but so worth doing it

Between this, the painting and the photography threads, I'm flabbergasted at the awesome talents we have on this site.

I know there was a music thread not that long ago; Did we have a poetry/writing thread in foo, ever?
Oh great, now my post makes no sense.
