My list of faves in no real order. Feel free to critique (or simply criticize my tastes) and/or expound upon your own:
The Silence of the Lambs (Few can match this one in recent memory)
28 Days Later (Instant classic; not really interested in seeing any of the alternate endings)
The Haunting (The original version of Shirley Jackson's novel, not Jan de Bont's train-wreck of a remake!)
The Others (Terrific!)
Dawn of the Dead (This is the second film in the original trilogy, and while the first and even the third have much to offer, this one is the best of the lot)
Hellraiser (How does Clive Barker sleep at night?)
The Ring (Creepy as Hell and beautifully shot)
The Blair Witch Project (Some didn't care for this one, and my wife nearly threw up in the theater in reaction to the camera work, but I was enthralled)
ALIEN (I loved Aliens as well, but it's really in another genre...right?)
The Exorcist (I enjoyed The Exorcist III too. All that The Exorcist II had going for it was Linda Blair in a nightie, and that was all too brief (the scene, not the nightie))
