    science expedition

Two scientists went out to a sawmill on a river.
One hopped onto a log, in the water, and began jumping up and down.
"What are you doing?" asked his companion.
    "Experimenting with logarithms."

Wouldn't he have to jump up and down on ten of them?

What I want to know is how the scientists would log any problems they encounter.

I'm trying to decide if that would be harder or easier than jumping up and down on 2.718281828459045 of them. I think the latter would be more natural...
