Short-wave Radio Recommendations.

I am looking for a short-wave radio to carry on a planed cycling tour and would like to hear from someone who could recommend and good product. Due to a limited selection in my city, I have my choice down to the Grundig Yachtboy 300pe. Any other recommendations or information?

What kind of tour are you planning. there are several differnet styles of all weather radios you can use in the VHF band try a marine store. Do you want it to communicate with the outside world or with each other. If it is with each other long range walkie talkies are availabel from any sporting goods outfitters. We do sell radios online where I work check out ourweb site we carry Icom Radios I only know how to use them don't know any of the tech info on them if you are interested PM me and I can hook you up with our expert. At least this will give you something to compare with.

Thanks for the reply; what I am looking for is a light, reliable, good quality short-wave/Am/Fm radio in order to listen to the CBC, BBC, Radio Netherlands and other local and international stations while I am traveling. I will be touring around Spain and Portugal this winter and would like a radio to listen to on those long boring evenings while staying in my tent. I have used short-wave radios in the past while in the developing world, but due to poor quality reception, I was only able to tune into Christian stations, which are not my cup of tea. The website you posted is down today so I will try latter.

I talked to our radio guy today and we do not carry what you are looking for. But I have a freind in who is a Ham operator in the LA area and works for a radio shop. He wants to know if you plane on just a reciever so you can pick up BBC etc. If so he can set you up would be willing to send you a catalog and mentioned he would give it to you at his empolyee discount + tax and shipping. Hi David thanks for your help, there are a few different models available here in Winnipeg, I just don’t know anyone with experience with what is available and the sales people know ***** about them. I think I will go with the Grundig Yachtboy 300 pe, as it has been around for a while so it may work for my trip.
