They're gonna sell Specialized bikes in GM dealerships? Can I use my GM Card earnings?

Wow! I don't even know what to say.

I was glad to learn that GM is not a mass merchant

I hope they would now buy Cadillac bikes and GMC bikes and move out of car manufacturing altogether.

I may be the only one to say it, but I think this is great.

Many didn't know that Merida owned the majority stake in Specialized, so its nice to have ownership back in US. Second, Mike Sinyard is apparently still at the helm so to speak and just as Dorel will not take down the Cannondale name, neither will GM with Specialized. Finally, GM has some of the worlds best industrial designers & engineers and they may be allowed to play with bike design, so we may see some incredible concepts brought to reality. As one who got an inside view into GM recently, they are not the same company of old and they've been slowly but steadily turning my negative perception of GM into a positive one. The old guard are retiring and new young blood is bubbling up.

Wait a minute, we are hours away from April fools day and that website is the only place this HUGE (in the bike business) news is posted. Hmmmmm....

At least now they'll be Specialized underneath I wonder if they're going to use this to increase the average mileage estimate of their "vehicles"

I think Merida probably still holds the majority stake. (That is, I'm buying the April Fool's theory...)

Yep, Cyclingnews already has a whole April Fools page up. They totally got me with the first story about a possible relay TTT in the TdF. I was all excited about the possiblity until I read the Landis decision was being handed to Judge Judy to arbitrate and my "wait a minute, what the $#%@" BS radar finally kicked in.

That being said, this doesn't yet appear to be fake and business journals generally do not kid around, and when they do it is wildly obvious.

actually it makes sense - 75% of "cycling" in the usa involves a car trip of some kind to get to the starting point..

Or vice versa, which I'm sure they would prefer.

Does that mean they're going to build in planned obsolescence and I'll need to get a new bike every 3 years?
