I'm glad you picked up a cheap tektro brake. I think it's ridiculous to spend so much money on a brake, when you can get hombres for like $15.

Hi guys I'm brand new to BMX, I've always wanted to do it since I was a kid but never knew where to start. I now work at a bike shop and can get an awesome deal on a GT or an SE bike.
Right now I'm stuck between a 2009 se wildman pro, wildman x-pert, and also a gt bump. I've also been looking around on dans comp and saw this DK bike for $279.99. They all go for away the same, in the 200-300 pricerange(remember i work at a bike shop)
I mainly want to get started with tricks.
So any help or any or suggestions would be great.
Just make sure that you get as much Chromoly as possible, and as many sealed bearings as you can. Thats usually a sign of a quality bike, and that will help it to last longer as you learn and progress.
hey guys. quick question. i am looking to get back into BMX. Went to the bike shop and here are my options. I am 22y.o. 6' tall 200lbs. They had:
2009 Premium Solo - 20.5" Frame
2009 Premium Duo - 20.8" Frame
2009 Premium Three Ring - 20.8" Frame
1. what do you think about these bikes?
2. I am thinking of going with the Duo unless the three ring is noticaby better. The only thing i noticed different was gearing (25/9 on the duo and i think 23/8 on the three ring), and hollow axle somewhere on the three ring as well as an extra sealed something. The price difference is $130.
3. These bikes could handle street riding, grinding, and dirt jumping right?

I would just go for the Duo. Like you said, there isn't enough noticeable difference in them, and I would rather 25/9 than 23/8 anyways. The only other difference I really noticed is the Three Ring has the Sub-10 stem, where the Duo just has a regular alloy frontload.
1. I think that the Premium line is pretty good, and they're actually owned by Haro, so that says something I think.

Hey guys. So I used to ride dirt years ago but have been out of the game for some time. I had a Kink Gap I messed around on a little 2 years ago (until it got stolen) and since I lived in the dorms I figured I'd get a bike that wasn't quite as nice and therefore less likely to get too much of the wrong attention (ended up getting a DK Cincinnati). Now that I've got the desire to start riding again I want to get a lighter bike (the DK weighs like 33lbs or something like that). I want to build one but am not up to date on alot of the companies, as far as frames go. I really liked my Kink and have been looking at The Outfit frame or maybe the 2Hip Jarrod Allen frame. I'm trying to keep the price at a $300 limit. Any input is appreciated. I'm 21 5'7" 110lbs (yeah I know I'm a scrawny bastard haha)
Hey I was looking for a good BMX bike, I got about $400 to spend. Don't really know a lot about bikes so, I have been looking a lot on forums. I'm 6'0 and about 160lb I am going to be doing a lot street riding and some dirt jumping more racing then tricks. This was the bike I was thinking of buying Felt Racing Sector Pro X if I could get any help at all I would appreciate it a lot.

I have been looking at this bike for several months and it's on sale right now. I can't find the geometry of it ANYWHERE on the internet - I am looking to get into flatland - would this be a bad bike for that?

At Redline, the MX24, and I guess I can do an employee purchase and get the 2010 model for cheaper than I would pay for the 2009. The only major difference between the two is the 2010 frame is aluminum, while the 2009 frame is chromo.
I'm mainly just gonna be using it to cruise around and do (minor) tricks, maybe try to hit some trails, is frame material going to make that much of a difference? I usually ride mountain and my frame is chromo, and I have a general distrust of anything not...

Norco Spitfire for a 100 bucks, wheels, brakes and a chain, and Id have a wicked 79-80ish bmx, this is the one Im most serious about buying, its only 100, I have all the original parts new in box/bag, and its in vancouver, which is fairly close.
My limit is 200 US(not counting the Force3), Id hope for 2 bikes, I prefer Norco (started out on the norco above), chrome, with a sugino/custom 3 peice, I dont mind paying shipping, although I doubt Norcos got very far. Im willing to trade my norco road bikes/parts for anything like the above. Im not looking for anything new, say anything pre-97, 1 inch threaded headset stuff. so, any suggestions / CL links, Im willing to pay shipping from just about anywhere to Canada.

im looking at buying a mongoose gave. any one know if this is a decent bike. silver alloy frame with 48 spokes. but another part of meijer.com saies 74 spoke. its 149 or so in store but 94 on sale online
I'm just warning you now, if you plan on doing any serious riding, that bike is not a good idea. Save up more and get something that won't break.
I joined this forum for "research" purposes. FWIW, after some research, I recently bought a 2008 Hoffman Dekko AL from Sidewall Distibution for my 8-year-old grandson to use when he visits us. I was looking for a complete that might last for five years or so and that could be used at our local skatepark as he gets older without significant modification.
One of the things I quickly learned (luckily) was that, when researching the specifications of a complete stock bike, you need to know the year, make and FULL model name. Just the model name may not tell you what parts are on the bike and (VERY IMPORTANT) whether the frame is 100% chromoly, partial chromoly or high tensile steel. For example, in the 2009 Hoffman line, the Cirrus AL has a 100% chromoly frame, the Cirrus IL has a chromoly main frame with high tensile stays, and the Cirrus EL frame only has a chromoly down tube. I think it would be very helpful if there was some industry standard for BMX frames (say, S1 for 100% chromoly, S2 for chomoly main frame, S3 for one to three chromolly tubes, S4 for no chromoly tubes; and A1, A2, etc. for aluminum frames).
At this time, it seems to me that most major BMX lines that offer "complete" bikes have some models that, while definitely better than WalMart bikes, are entry level-bikes for neighborhood riding rather than skate park use.
Sooooooooo I'm a chick and I just got into BMX a couple weeks ago and I am LOVING every minute of it... Only problem now, I need a bike. I'm selling my mountain bike cuz it's pretty much useless to me now, and I need the extra money to be able to blow on a BMX bike. I've been borrowing a friend's but basically, I really want my own. Because I AM so brand new at this I really don't want to spend more than $200, and I want used... but I have no CLUE where to begin on researching bikes aside from starting in forums. I don't want a grrrrrrrrrrrrreat amazing bike or anything cuz I know that will be difficult to find under $200, but one that will last me long enough to get good, then I can upgrade. I basically want one for dirt riding/racing and jumps. I want something lightweight. I'm 5'6" 140lbs. Can you guys give me some advice?
If you want to race and jump, I'd suggest a chromoly race bike, like a Standard 125r, S&M .38 Special, or a Supercross Bolt LT. You'll probably want one labelled as "Pro" size, which is usually 20 and a half inch long top tube length.
No idea where to look for a used one, though. I'm still riding a ten year old Supercross, with no plans to replace it.
BTW, BMX bikes are a blast on mountain bike trails.![]()

S&m fork, terrible one bars, front wheel is a blk primo hoolahoop with primo hub, the rear wheel is a silver sun single rim with silver primo hub. Animal Hamilton pedals. I know those are unsealed...when i get new pedals, would upgrading to sealed make a huge difference? I just don't know what that does for performance.
I posted a pic. what you guys think...did I get a deal? I'll say this..it is an awesome bike to ride. I am in love with it. Use it for freestyle.
