    Sheldon Brown Memorial Ride

Howdy folks! Short notice, but I'm announcing a Sheldon Brown Memorial Ride on Monday July 14th (Bastille Day and Sheldon's Birthday: he would have been 64 years old this year). The meeting spot is in Fairfax CA in front of the Java Hut. I put up a Bikely route map for anyone who wants to print their own cue cards: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path...l-Ride-3-30-08 . Plan to meet at 5:30pm and I expect the ride to last a couple of hours. Fast Groups are welcome to move along or go off route, but we are emphasizing the fact that all bikes are accepted, so we're riding at a pace that someone on a Bakfiets with 2 kids in it can keep up with. Bring your crazy helmet with crap strapped on, bring your kids in their trailers, bring your freak bike, whatever. Come celebrate the life of one of the true gentlemen/statesmen of cycling. Imbibing of fermented grain will commence post ride at the Iron Springs Zythepsary across from Java Hut: don't forget your bike lock!

These are a long way out yet but it's almost time to start thinking about Cyclocross! Yeah!

Pilarcitos Bay Area Super Prestige Series dates have been announced. Most venues TBA.
    October 19
    November 2
    November 15
November 30 @ Golden Gate Park (this is a great one for spectators)
December 7 @ Coyote Point (finale of the series)

Stay tuned to http://www.pilarcitos.com/2008Cross.htm for more info.

I think there are at least a few of us CXers on here (pelikan? Blast Radius? others I'm sure). It is great fun to participate in but also really fun to watch. A lot more relaxed atmosphere than road racing. Bring your warm clothes and plenty of Belgian beer I'm still on the fence whether to race Cs or Bs this year; I'm leaning toward Bs but probably need to get into slightly better shape. Never-ending quest I guess.

If you are thinking about doing it, you might consider bumping up your plans to this year if at all possible. Some time ago, the current race/ride organizer (Tom) said he was stepping down. I don't know if anyone has filled his shoes yet; if not this may be the last EC (which would be a real shame).

I'll be over there this year running a support vehicle again.

Oh. Ha! Didn't even notice that!

I think there is definitely a misprint for Race 2. The races are (well, have been) on Sundays. I think that must be November 2. I will mention it to the organizers.

    Thanks for pointing that out!

Edit: just exchanged messages with them and they confirmed Race 2 is *November* 2. Their site is already updated.

Edit 2: To be clear: race 3 is correctly listed as *Saturday* November 15th. Rumor has it that it will be a night race at Sierra point. w00t!

    Condor Classic -- October 11

Here's a new ride I just found out about. I can't make it that weekend, but looks like a great area to ride -- I've never been there, makes me want to try it out sometime.

    FYI,
I created a Google Calendar called "NorCal BF". Go to http://calendar.google.com. Log in, type in "NorCal BF", then click Search Public Calendar. I just started populating it.

    Yeah, I was bored ...
