If anyone has had any experience with these forks I'd like to know what you thought 0f them. I am setting up a new bike and have an opportunity to by a set for $300.00 which seems like a good deal to me but i've heard some negative reviews.

Ok. Before you read what i have to say, know this. I'm a loyal rock shox fan, and i dont race XC hardly at all, so im more concerned with a forks' plushness and response as to its lightness/stiffness.
IMHO, i dont like the Manitou's elastomer/spring combination in any of there forks. The rebound is waaaay too slow for my tastes, and its anything but plush. Although i think the Carbon is actually elastomer /air, but i would still take a noleen or a rock shox SID over it anyday. If you're tryin to save $$, might i suggest goin to www.mtbr.com and checkin out the market. I swear a SID or something else is offered there ever day for cheap. Good Luck!
I think i caught you kinda late, but one thing i have to say about the manitou sx carbon fork we have for sale in the bike shop i work at is: THEY FLEX LIKE NO OTHER... i looked at them for a little bit, too, and i was lucky enough to have a conversation with a customer that ran that fork on his bike, and had a chance to ride it... whether your'e using vee or disc's, the arms of the fork will bend back to an alarming degree~ i wouldn't be surprised if the customer came back with a broken collarbone due to a snapped(you read that right, snapped)fork.
