Ficelle bikes
I just bought a Ficelle from a used bike store, and it' my first project bike. I don't really know too much about fixing up bikes, but I am trying to learn. I need a new bottom bracket for this bike, but am not sure what I should get. Someone told me I should try Phil Wood, but I want to make sure that I get the right thing before spending that type of money. Does anyone know much about this bike? I looked online and found nothing. If someone could please help me out I would really appreciate it.

Post some photos of the bike and people will tell you if it's worth using such an expensive bottom bracket. With a name like Ficelle, I would assume it accepts an Italian threaded bottom bracket.

even if no one here has heard of the brand of bike it is, posting large clear pictures will allow us to tell you almost everything you need to know.

That should fix it...Now I just hit submit to see if I was right.
Now that I can see the bike, it looks like a low end French bike (low end because it has steel wheels, steel crank). While Phil Wood does make bottom brackets for French thread, this bike probably isn't worth the expense of Phil Wood. You could get a much better bike for the price of that Phil Wood bb.
Other opinions?

Actually, Ficelle was from Belgium. Therefore the threading could be English or French. The cranks look like steel Stronlight models, If so, and it has the matching bottom bracket, you can determine the threading via the lockring, which appears to be the French version. Stronglight lockrings for French threads have 6 notches while English lockrings have 4 or 8 notches.
Your bicycle is a boom era Ficelle racer model with a replacement front brake. If you are intending to restore it, the correct derailleurs would be Huret, with a Svelto at the back.
They had a racing model, the Competition, that was comparable to the Peugeot PX-10, though it used Vitus butted tubing, as opposed to Reynolds. Distribution on this marque was relatively limited, so you won't see many of these around. Are you in the north-east?

Actually, I'm in the midwest, chicago, Thanks to everyone for getting back to me, so a phil wood would not work then correct? I'm not really trying to restore this completely, but I don't really know what to do about replacing the bottom bracket. I would like to put some new crank arms and petals along with this, I'm just not sure what to do about the bottom bracket....
