I did a quick scroll through this forum to see if anyone else had started a similar thread. I found none, which is a bit of a surprise because

...what a movie!

Peter Jackson should be canonized. What a wonder, what an amazing achievement this trilogy is. How a man can work such magic and not be a burned-out husk by the end of it seems truly superhuman. He and everyone involved deserve a long break, lots of adoration, and pots and pots of money.

I very rarely say that when speaking of the film industry.

A film series for the ages. If you and yours are the procreative types (I and mine are not), your grandkids will thank you when you share these marvels with them.

Gotta go again.

I haven't seen Return of the King yet- can't get tickets. Maybe next week sometime.

Yeah, I wached it on opening morning (12am midnight). Great movie, but I was worthless at work the next day as I got home at 4am and got pretty much zero zzzzz's.

This last one was my favorite. I wished they kept true to the book near the end when the Shire was supposed to be wrecked to the ground as the hobbits returned, then later kicked butt.

The dwarf was my favorite character. one funny dude!

i'm revisiting the extended DVD verison of the first movie. then on to the 2nd....then i can tackle the 3rd. have heard nothing but good things about it

The studio is apparently considering it, but thus far have not approached Jackson.

A great peice of work. I do wish the battle scene between the Rohan woman warrior and the Nazgul had been more drawn out and dramatic instead of all the crying at the end.

I seem to recall that a different studio owns the rights
to the Hobbit, but there are some negotiations being
done. Jackson said he would hate to see a different
less than par version of The Hobbit. Only Characters you
would need from LOTR are Gandalf and Elrond.
Loved the 3rd movie but a bit dissapointed in the
Two Towers (too many changes). I bet the scourging (?)
of the shire will be in the extended version.
I highly recommend the extended dvds they are much better than what was released by the studios.
Did I mention I loved this movie?

overall a great movie, but yeah I was a bit disappointed when the hobbits trotted back into a peaceful green shire. I wanted to see Sauraman get his ass kicked. Oh well, I hope it's in the DVD. I think they should have released the films in the extended versions, there's some key information that would help people unfamiliar with the books -- Such as the explanation of Aragorn's ancestry and the fact that he's kicking butt at age 87.

I was looking forward to the shire bit. It can't be in the extras unless they delete some of the original scenes (besides weren't Merry and pippin meant to be big after the ent drink thing). Oh and Sarumans part was pretty tiny, as I remember all that he did was throw the plantir at them and then escape with grima. Far less esential than the shire bit.

I have read the books and found the films enjoyable and suficiently different to be entertaining. Frodo and Sam bits were still borring though.
