Does anyone do the climb along Big Basin Way (Highway 9) to Skyline Blvd. (Highway 35)? How long does it typically take you? I just started climbing recently. Want to know where I stand. Last time it took me 41:43.

Where did you start the clock from? That's only 3 seconds from my best time on Highway 9 ever; and I've been riding it regularly for the past 15 years or so...
Oh, and for the topic at hand... I discovered this forum while looking for stats on a certain local climb. So this is only my third post here. I've been on a hillclimb kick lately, and have established 6 new PRs in the past 10 days. Here's my list:
Highway 9 (last crosswalk in Saratoga to the stop sign at the top): 41:27 -summer 2008
Montebello: 40:37 -8/31/09
Bohlman: 41:43 -8/28/09
Bohlman On Orbit Bohlman: 45:57 -8/7/09
Wildcat var. BOOB: 45:54 (immediately after PR on BOOB) -8/7/09
Montevina: 38:00 (9/4/09)
Bonny Doon: 28:00 (to the winery. 52:25 to Empire Grade via Ice Cream Grade) -(9/7/09)
Alba: 39:55 (9/7/09)
Sierra Road: 31:50 (some time in 2007)
Calaveras/Felter Road: 1:05 (from home: ~12 miles -3.5 flat)
Weller Road: forgot the time... But fun!
Quimby Road: don't remember... But suffered in the heat!
Mount Hamilton (from west): 1:44:48 (LKHC '08)
Mount Hamilton (from East): 53:45 (4/5/08)
East Dunne Road(SJBC Winter Series Race): 44:40 (10/26/08)
Old La Honda: 22:35 -3/29/08
West Old La Honda: 17:30 -12/25/09
Kings Mountain: 31:30 -6/16/07
Alpine Road (to end of pavement from Portola Road): 16:30 (9/5/09)
Jamison Creek: 31:00 -Thanksgiving 2007
Tioga Pass (east): 1:32:00 (May 26, 2007)

^^ nice times!
I'm always game for riding with new people... I ride at totally random times during the week and with my fiancee on the weekends (she's no slouch!).![]()

Woo hoo - another PR up San Bruno Mtn today - 23m 04s. Spinning my way up Guadalupe resulted in a surprisingly good time to the park entrance - I also had to slow down for a red light half way up, so I think I can crack the 23min mark in the not too distant future.

Diablo, 2nd time up, 1:12:02. From the Athenian school.

Some sort of pithy irrelevant one-liner should go here.
Up OLH in 19:53 today -- my first time under 20!

Ok, I didn't want to post my time here until I could advertise what I feel is respectable time ... still a little slow compared to others ... but my PB up Montebello ... 45 min
The laughing can now commence!
Very nice time UP HWY9. Your route is just over 7 miles. I'm light years behind on these 7 miles (52min).
It seems there is big inconsistency in measuring starting point for this climb. Ultracycle.net measures from Pierce Rd. intersection which makes it a 5.55mile climb.
Now, how do you deal with one-way section past Saratoga springs where traffic light might be red as you attempt the climb? On some of my climbs it just happen to be green so I can ride straight through but last Sunday it was red both on ascend and descend.
I guess I might as well post my PR on OLH on LKHC ... 24:53.

Either that or the stopwatches at the top and bottom weren't in sync![]()
New climbs for me today.
Kings Mountain - 29:48 from Greer, and 32:50 from Woodside Rd.
My performance up West Alpine was not King of anything though....
Last Sunday - first time up Old LaHonda Rd...
From the left turn on Portola Rd. to Skyline...24:11...not bad for a 200lb 50year old!![]()

Let's get a good showing for bikeforums at the Montevina low-key climb tomorrow. Our own ericm is coordinating, it's close and local for us South Bay folks, and it's a gorgeous area.
