Billy Idol- Rebel Yell.
Edit: Damn you SJ!
Training crit fun today.
Found a teammate who asked if I wanted to go for a prime and gave me an awesome leadout after I nodded. First time for a bonafide leadout. Awesome awesome awesome.
At the finish, I was getting gassed and teammates were trying to help but were gassed themselves or had gaps open up, so I just hopped wheel to wheel. Finished in second with a crummy sprint.
That was a good tough race. I almost fell otb. At one point when I was closing a gap, one of the riders in charge of helping with the race pushed me and yelled at me. That was a little hilarious. It definitely made me work harder for the rest of the race so he didn't do it again. I was a little ashamed that he felt I needed it haha.
Congrats on the 2nd! Nice work suffering so hard for it.
Training crit at Orr Rd tonight.
I made it 6 laps this time, which is twice as many as last week. I actually felt decent. I just didn't recover enough between accelerations and my HR kept climbing lap after lap and finally blew up.
Got back in a couple other times for about 3 laps each time before getting spit out again. I'm making progress.
TT tonight... 20km ...strong headwind out, some rollers. Came within a C-hair of beating 30mins. 5th place.
I need to brag on Doggus since I doubt he'll brag for himself. Tuesday training crit tonight.
Big accomplishments for Doggus:
What a stud. And his wife was there to watch, so major spousal brownie points.
- taking turn 3 at 31.5 mph
- getting tricked into an early break, then holding it two-up for quite a few laps. (ok it was me who tricked him into the break, but it was him who worked it)
- then, going after another break, working it hard for most of the rest of the race, till it was caught with... 3 to go I think?
- then... getting 2nd friggin place in the pack sprint!

60 something mile RR today, 96 degrees. I downed 8 or 9 bottles and was still really dehydrated at the end. Was OTF solo for about 12 miles before blowing up with 5 miles to go. Still finished 16th.
I hit a really high sprint in the warmup before the race, and then in the prime. I was working hard towards the end of the race and almost gave up on going for anything, but I figured that I need to learn how hard I can push myself when I'm totally beat.
I only hit a max of 930 watts and my finishing sprint was about 800 watts for 15 seconds. Weak, but not bad for being wiped out.
I've never even tried to go for the finish after going for a prime. Last time I went for a prime, I sat up at the finish. So there's some progress somewhere.
easy day. doing a recce of friday's race course.
One thing, however, a lot of people treat it as a big deal. Sometimes too much. It's irritating to hear people yell at others in this thing if they bridge to a break with a team mate in it or not close gaps properly or crap like that. I look at it like training. I go out there and try to bust my balls so I know I've done something. If someone gets pissed at me, so be it. Some guys need to effin relax.
It's in Charlotte. I live here in the summer. I should really change my location so people stop thinking I'm in Raleigh still.
I also got my first hip touch last night. In my races people still yell instead of touch, it was much nicer, you know exactly where they are. I said outside at one point (quietly) to a guy who might not have known I was there going to a corner, and he just nodded his head like, "yeah newb, I know you're there, don't worry about it".
Yeah man, I got yelled at too. I almost backed off and said something but didn't. DOT raised the manhole covers so they could pave. I wasn't wanting to pinch someone inside at the 2nd corner and make him swerve around it or hit it. So in turn, I guess, I wasn't directly behind him and had a gap. I know exactly who yelled at me. And, man, did I want to tell them to go F themselves. It burned me to know end. F'ing idiot.
I hear last time they paved there they just threw down chipseal. I really hope they don't do that again. Those roads are in good shape, I dunno why they want to pave them. I've seen much worse.
I hope to see you next week - if we both show up. I might take a break. Last night pissed me off and it really didn't set in until the ride home. I guess when I was pegged I didn't (thankfully) react foolishly and let it roll off my back.
