Thanks. It really isn't a cross bike but a hybrid frame. I picked it up on e-bay. The wheelbase is a bit long but I can live with it. I have a 42 to put on but I am going to wait as I am going to ride it on the road too.
Nice build. Never would've guessed that it's not a CX frame. But that's part of CX right? Gotta have some frankenbikes, even some that look good.
This is my 05 Soul Cycles "Monk". Build is pretty basic at this point; 56cm, 7005 aluminum frame /fork, ultegra long cage rear, ultegra shifters, Cane Creek HS, Truvative Cross crank/truvative BB, Salsa Bell lap 46cm bar, its now got a white 110mm Race face stem (salsa 80mm in the pic), i'm waiting on an adaptor to run the Avid Mechanical disks so the existing wheelset is temporary. USE alien carbon post, Axiom seat (comfy and light...and cheap).
Raced it yesterday for the first time, very nice. wickedly stiff (see that downtube?) balanced front and rear, lots of clearance for the serious mud we hit (thunderstorm rolled through minutes before our start).
overall...great bike, super value and unique looks. I'm waiting on their carbon fork (with disk mounts) coming in the early winter. Good guys to deal with too.

where did you buy the advance carbon fork from? I'd like to get a carbon fork that's anodized black as well for my bike since my bike is anodized black

Here is my cross bike.
It's equipped with mavic 519 ceramic rims, DuraAce hubs, Paul NeoRetro Canties, DuraAce Triple group.
It's shown with two bottlecages. When racing, I remove the seattube one for better shouldering.
The downtube one is not a problem.

Sorry for the front wheel with silver spokes and hub. I had a flat tire the previous day and had to replace the original all black front wheel for a moment

This is the bike I race. It is a 1985 Nashbar touring bike. My brother bought it new and sold it to me in around 1990. It's a good old rugged steed. After cross season I put the triple back together and set her up for touring.
Here's mine. Ritchey Swiss-Cross. Love almost everything about it, except the rear stays could've been wider to accommodate biger treads (fixed in later models) and the strange red to white paint fade (which comes across as pink) (also fixed in later models; fixed on mine with tape).
My other bikes are a Bridgestone MB-0 for getting around town, and a steel hardtail mtn bike that I'm still shopping for (feel free to chime in with advice).
And for what it's worth, the bike in the post that started this thread is the stealthiest looking ride I've ever seen -- NICE!

i'm thinking about getting a soma double cross frame to build up...but it'll probably just get used for commuting/touring. i'm putting together a short list of components to keep the price down, so far i've got the soma frame and fork, probably ultegra bar-ends with whichever generic aero brake levers, i'll probably do like, an older XT rear hub, 7 or 8 speed, whatever's lying around the shop, some old ritchey cantis or the paul's neo-retros, and a sugino XD triple crank. not sure about derailleurs yet. i'm gonna check out the frame on wednesday, i think.
....and i also have to sell my trials bike first....oooor swap the parts except the wheels/steerage/brakes....hmm...i like that idea!! BLESS YOU BIKEFORUMS FOR LETTING ME THINK OUT LOUD AND CONTRIBUTING TO MY BIKE HABIT!@!!!

Hea ya go. Surly x-check. Some very nice feeling steel fork I picked up two years back at Veloswap.
Surly hubs/Mavic hoops, swapped to QR axles, with bolt on ti skewers. King headset, Titec ti stem, Titec Malone bar - cut obviously; I never use the drops on this thing. Paul brakes, with Shimano something or other levers. USE ti post (from my mtb-i bent the thing; after cutting the bent half off, it was only long enough to use on this bike) and Performance house brand ti rail junk saver seat. Action-Tec ti bb, Shimano LX crank with generic 38T ring, alu crank and ring bolts. Wellgo ti axle pedals. 15T fixed cog, 18T freewheel; spends the majority of its time running fixed.
For the anal fit/sizing types who are gonna' have a fit over this one: Deal. I don't race. This is my commuter, sans rack and fenders at the moment. It's comfy. It fits. It sees the once or twice a month trail ride out at Hall Ranch. Nice to spin out there fixed, flip the wheel to hit the trail for a bit, then reverse the process to come home.
I love the bike. Rides road or dirt very well. Though I can't help lusting behind its back for an On-One Il Pompino frame to replace the Surly..........
I believe the clouds in my coffee more than the weatherman on t.v.
Just had my Il Pompino finished the other day...it's raining in the SF Bay Area so I haven't been able to properly test her. But the few minutes I spent were pretty good. Much more relaxed than my Indy Fab Planet X.
