I can lift with it, but even riding around campus a little too hard kills it.

Doesn't matter if I'm riding with clips and straps or SPD-SL's.

Yeah, bump it up to correct your training stress and zones, then get a better handle on the number.

Full body, free weights. I'll get some athlete friends to show me how to do stuff if I don't know how.

Thanks in advance for saving me from impending insanity.
Anyone help you yet?
I could lend a hand. Though, I'm was never the greatest, I used to lift a lot.

Bike going to shop. Bruised my knee last night. Giving it a day off. I think it was an omen for today. Knee is feeling better right now. Hitting the trainer tomorrow morning.

Damn that is what I thought it was. Really sorry to hear that man that sucks.

Good luck.

If I were you I would do lots of lower-body lifting and any sort of cardiovascular activity that your knee can handle. Rowing machine maybe?

Bikes: 2 cdale Caad7. Scatantte CX/winter bike. SS commuter.

AM: 20' elliptical, 10' weights.

PM: 2 hours Z2. did 2 x 3:25" "Aero test"

using same bike I held 2 positions for 1.25 miles on the identical course.

pegged wattage at a steady 346 AP and 96 RPM.

1: In the invisible aerobars, I did 22.3 MPH.

2: On the hoods with elbows just slightly bent, I averaged 20.7 MPH.

Course was windy and just slightly uphill.

Statistically significant?

seems so.

I tried erging one day and my knee hurt the next day. I can run on it, when it isn't acting up but if I ride (like I sprinted across campus yesterday) and it'll start bothering me again. I think it's related to range of motion since running is less.

Then again it didn't hurt with leg presses 2 weeks ago...

Thanks. I'd really appreciate it.

I've been forgetting to eat, which is something that happens when I get stressed out and don't work out. I need to do something that'll force me to remember to eat. I think I'm losing muscle since I'm losing a bit of weight, and my diet isn't bad per se it just probably isn't enough. Lack of sleep doesn't help much heh.

I have a date with 35 books (actually 36, just picked one up) over the next few weeks. And that's just for background.

This is fun. This is fun. This is fun.
That's what I keep telling myself, anyway.

Bikes: too many to list

Finally on the bike again! I've been fighting some weird combination of overtraining, possibly a virus, possibly thyroid issues, then chronic fatigue since mid-August. Rode zero miles in October, down from an average of 500 miles per month. Today and yesterday I got out for 25 miles each day. Not much, but damn it feels good.

Fitness wise I'm in better shape than I thought I would be with nearly 3 months off the bike. I've lost about 5 pounds so that helps, but the hills aren't killing me too bad and my pedal stroke is surprisingly good. Endurance is very questionable, however. 25 miles is leaving me awfully tired.

Goals are to ramp up slow enough I don't kill myself, and try to figure out a way to get in racing shape by mid-February.

How many days during the week are you weight lifting?
Are you looking to put on mass or just stay fit?
Mostly core, upper body, everything?

Is it possible to lose 40-50 watts off your FTP in 2 1/2 months?

I feel like my FTP is barely 220 right now..at the end of the season it was more like 265-275ish.

WTF?

Don't worry about it yet. Start worrying about it in the spring.

That's a pretty big drop, but like Sub said, don't worry about it. Your body has been there before, it will go back.

I don't remember any post from you about injury or anything... is there a catalyst to this lack of form? Just time off? Sickness? Injury?

Barring any big reason for a lack of fitness, 40w is big enough that you should be looking for other reasons I think. Low-grade sickness, change in position, etc.

i bought a house and had to travel a lot with the military. Basically got off the bike except for a few rides since late august.

The worse part is the soreness, my back...my knees. not fun.

i'll give it a couple of weeks and do some testing.

my 5s didn't go down but about 10w.

Bikes: Many

10 days since being released from the doc to get back on the bike after a sworn vow of JRA and to wear my brace almost 24x7 if not on the bike. I broke my vows today. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Back in the brace and Vicodin level knee pain.

Repeat after moi, JRA, JRA, JRA.

Oy.

I don't really know. The weather was nice and I was feeling pretty good, and my legs had that twitchy under-exercised feeling to them I haven't felt in a while, so I said 'screw it, I'm gonna go for a short, no-pressure ride and see how I feel'. Turns out I felt pretty darn good, so I repeated it today and I'm feeling even better. So I'm hoping this is the end of a long, dark tunnel for me.

tomorrow is an off day, but my legs feel good. I might move my workout from Thursday (60 minutes on rollers) to Tuesday and take Thursday off.

I'll see how I'm feeling tomorrow evening. Either way, it's almost an off day.

^ Same. I've got so much schoolwork piling up this week I'll be lucky to sneak a ride in Wednesday. You got ride plans for Sunday? I will try to join if you do - I've missed riding in a group.
