It's a cup holder! Or more likely a beer can holder.I though someone would comment on the fork. A custom installation to the rider's unique needs and preferences?
Another custom build. Vermont and K.

Thanks! I used my zoom lens for that one. Shot from a bench on the Met Branch Trail! Completed e-paper work on a few jobs while waiting for the requisite cyclist to roll through, and taking a few practice shots. Took two of this guy but my battery quit before I could get him any closer. I like the shot, but I'd like to see what I might have got with the biker closer and the dump truck further away. I like the truck, but it obscures the hill running up to the Shrine which looks cool from there, zoomed in.
(I didn't notice the backwards fork until I had the film in the darkroom.) It made that picture the shot of the day. The other three OK slides are on my Photobucket page if you just can't get enough.![]()

I Lost my internet and i think I made it worst trying to fix it. Typing this ion a smartphone. I cant see the text I'm writingm but the curser is moving with each key stroke. I'll be back when I solve computer problems.
nice thread, I'm not from nor live in DC but this is a very interesting to me. I'm an avid photographer and had just recently started commuting by bike in NYC.
I envy those awesome bike lanes you guys have. The dept. of transportation of NYC has been going through the similar trend as those in DC. Re-structuring streets and develop greenways and bike lanes. But NYC has a long way to go still.
great thread again, enjoying going through the previous 15 pages.
I'm not bored with this thread yet in case you were wondering![]()

Haha, I'm fine. Thanks for asking. I'm back, computer problem resolved.
Thanks for keeping the thread going. The views per day increased during my absence (11,000+ views!), so I guess this thread has a life of it's own and doesn't require my frequent bumps. I'll keep bumping it when I can though.CCR, I enjoyed your photos of the familar sights pictured in post #405. I ride past most of those places regularly.
I took a break from taking pictures while I was disconnected. No reason for pictures of random riders if I can't post them here.
A few I took Friday. Tall bike sighted on northbound 14th NW. Running the red.
My new bike, a 2010 Marin Bobcat Trail being surpassed by a vintage DEAN. Was this rider even born yet when his bike was built!? His shoes are nicer than mine too.

Wasn't there something planned for Alexandria? Can we get some stimulus here? Charity begins at home!
Yeah. It looks like their front steps.
The one at the Discovery Channel Building in Silver Spring is bigger.
(Yes, there is a head on the Metro side of the building, and fins on the sides.)
added: Here's a better view.
