29er for big guy - stupid?

I'm 6'4". I'm a big guy. Therefore, a 29er makes more sense for me than a bike with 26" wheels.

How stupid is this?

You are part of the market that 29ers are especially suited for - - moreso than nearly everyone else. Go for it.

For your reference, the July '09 issue of Mountain Bike Magazine has a great article about 29'ers. Don't know how much of it is rhetoric, but the data sounds reasonable.

I'm 6'6" 280lbs(at the moment normally 250)

I got to ride the new 29" Specialized Hardrock Comp the other day...

best most comfortable bike I have ever sat on!!!

those wheels ride SOOOOOOOO NICE compared to 26"... OMG not even close.

Here's my take on it. If it feels good for the riding you plan on doing then it's good.
