Welcome to the Hybrid Bicycles Forum

Due to the large number of requests, and the persistence of this coming up, we've opened up the Hybrids forum. You showed me there was a demand for it. Welcome to your new home, all you Hybrid Junkies!

Aso, if you develop your community sufficiently, I'll give you a specific market subforum. Until you do, you can share the Recreational and Family Market Subforum at http://www.bikeforums.net/forumdisplay.php?f=285 since it's already in existence.

[Edit - Here's how this came to be ]

Thank you Tom, this is more than I think we expected but it was the goal. Everyone involved should give themselves a pat on the back. The discussion on both sides of the process went very well. Thank you again

Ah, now I feel better (expressed a disappointment at having general and hybrid lumped together)!

    Thank you...

That was my original feeling when that happened but then I realized it made sense. I too missed that it was a temporary move in the beginning. Things moved much quicker than I thought it would. We can only hope everyone enjoys it as much as anticipated

I knew it wouldn't take until the 18th to figure those last stats in the vote tally to establish a trend sufficiently to make this happen. Thanks, Tom!

I'm thinking we could move, perhaps, the 7 pages of the original thread - the one with the poll attached - over to here to delineate the roots of this new forum? I think it would stand as an educational outline of: "How To Get an Idea Into Reality."

And I'm certain there are those in General Cycling that would like to see all reminders of this traumatic event removed from their space.

I agree I was hoping the original thread would come over. It is a great example of how to effect a change, I think it went real well from beginning to end, Even the heated moments for the most part were very civil. I don't think anyone took anything personal. I know I didn't. General cycling were pretty good sports about what happend, They participated in what was going on and to be honest helped make it all happen for us

Well I did employ the ancient, and highly effective, tactics of Sun Tzu (The Art of War) here and there - but this all worked seamlessly. It came to pass much quicker than anticipated. That's always nice!

I work in the medical industry. We'd probably have better luck than our government, the politicians I've heard speak on the subject just don't grasp the complexity of the issues involved.

Sorry kind of political, but that's my two cents.

Hmmm... Does this mean my bait shop thread is no longer relevant?

You best believe it does - especially considering that you stole the 'bait-shop' idea from me!

No, it's an old idea that's kicked around for years. I don't recall ever reading a post where you mentioned it though.

I lost the wirless connectivity of my laptop the other day and freaked when I couldn't get online to see how things were going. Imagine my surprise to look at my subscribed threads and see a new hybrids forum.

Thanks everyone, feels kinda like home. I';m going to start recomending this to everyone that I can at the lbs where I work, and not just in the hopes of selling more bikes.

I guess this goes to show the civility of those involved in so much as our feelings of exclusion were shared and not imagined.

Nice to see this forum! Both my bikes are Hybrids. A Schwinn Crossfit (dumpster dove for that one) and a Nishiki Meridian (sad tale, co-worker was murdered and I was given the bike). The Nishiki has over 1100 miles on it while the Schwinn has mabye 100. I love them both! The Scwinn stays at my father's house for when I visit VA.

Awwww Thomas! Sorry about your co worker but you have his bike to remember him by.

Please post pics of them for us, okay? We have a thread just for that!
