I rode my hybrid through the wilds that are known as Fort Worth traffic. I only got told to "GET ON THE SIDEWALK!!!111!!!!!1!" once.

Is there some lunatic law there about where you can ride?

By the by - I love seeing pictures from where people are. And such would likely make for a great and fascinating thread for the ages. As well as the Hybrid Forum.

Rode my Giant Cypress DX today through Oka National Park (Oka, Quebec); the bike paths, the wooded trails, the paved roads and near the beach. It did pretty good on the rocky woodsy trails for a hybrid, the front and seatpost shocks and sprung cruiser saddle make it comfortable anywhere. It locks up anywhere near sand though, so... not a beach cruiser.

I hope it has sealed bearings. If sand manages to get into the races - oh brother! I'd open it up and clean it. But it sounds very pretty! I hope we can get some more photographs up in this thread. And, maybe, make it a 'sticky.'

I have to start keeping my camera with me all the time. I love Burlington VT. I don't get up there much anymore. Back when I drove Tractor Trailers I traveled all over New England to Pa. Vermont is the prettiest state in New England

No, I'm just trying to deal with my jealousy. My in-laws live up in that direction (well, outside Albany, NY) and it's gorgeous country up in that part of the country.

I set out to ride just 5 or 6 miles because my legs were tired from my run last night. I got carried away and went 13.5. Went down a new (to me) road with little traffic and enjoyed myself

I love riding my bike but I haven't become a daily rider yet. The goal is to ride to work most days once the school year begins; however, my ride is terribly short. My husband and I have only had our bikes about 2 months or so. I prob can list most of my rides here

Let's see, our last ride was on the back side of Griffith Park. If you're familiar with the area, we started where the kids train is, rode down Crystal Springs . The road was closed which meant taking the hybrids on to the horse trail which was new to me. Husband used to dirt/mountain bike avidly when he was younger so for him it was nostalgic. There was a hill there that made me grumble. Husband said he didn't think I'd make it. Yes, I'm outta shape. We continued over to the LA Zoo and around to the LA River Bike Path back and around. It was only a 7 or so mile loop but the little hills made it a serious work out for both of us.

And for the hell of it, my first longer ride below on the Manhattan Beach Bike Path, just 8 miles but for me great! My longest now is 11.5 (getting there slowly but surely).

It has been so long since I have seen the Pacific coast. I love a sun set over the ocean.

Hey Tamara is that seat kinda low. I am very familiar with that bike & I thought you looked taller than that. Do your knees fatigue when your riding. I know the bike is tight between the seat & the bar in the step through. It will be more comfortable to ride if the seat is adjusted to fit your body. I do know that standing in the step through is close on that bike

I'm actually just 5'3 with not long legs (stating the obvious). On this ride the seat was a tad lower than I have it now. Here's the thing. When I bought my bike I was right between sizes. The bike shop I go to is great but the 1st guy who helped me let me decide which felt best though he did guide me. Being such an inbetween height is tricky. So...I buy my bike. I take it home and don't ride it for a week. Finally I bring it downstairs (we live in an apt.), I get on, and wobble, the bike was too high with the seat at it's lowest so I actually

fell over into our bushes. I proceeded to take a little ride to the bank and back, and dechained the chain

doing great right? So I called the LBS and they told me I could exchange it for the smaller one. MUCH BETTER....but...

I started with the seat a tad lower than standard so I could do a little more than a tippy toe touch but not flat foot, for comfort. As I've ridden more I have raised the seat little by little. My guess is the seat is at least an inch higher now to where I can barely touch when stopped and need to lean to stop comfortably.

So...all that is to say...good eye

And you know, another reason I picked a Hybrid is that many are made with women's bodies and proportions in mind.

I went on my usual 20 mile loop and then a modified version of that--the 15 mile loop. I'm too tired today to do 2 20-milers. Some day I'll bring my Canon PowerShot SX100 with me and snap some pix for this thread. There's a beautiful golf course in the 20 mile loop, definitely worthy of pixels, especially at sun up.

Ok, finally getting on the bike in a bit. Finishing breakfast, then a shower. We're going to just ride in our area and down Hollywood Blvd over to the Chinese theatre I think. So, I'll try to snap a couple shots though riding in the city doesn't lend itself to easy picture taking.

Today my husband and I biked over the North Saskatchewan River and bike in a really nice neighborhood in Edmonton and then stopped by the Organic food store for some of my favorite staples (Coconut yogurt,Spinach and Paneer stuff, Cosmic Cooke etc. )

I have somehow hurt my right ankle too so I will get that checked out on Friday

Just back from a urban 6.7 mile ride. We were out for I think under an hour. First we started in Los Feliz on Franklin. Took Franklin down to Western. South on Western to Hollywood. Hollywood Blvd West to just passed the Graumins Chinese theatre where we saw Batman, Spiderman, a member from Kiss, Freddy, Elmo, Spongebob, a Playboy Bunny, just to name a few of the weirdos who dress up like characters, hang out, and get tipped when silly tourists take pics with them. We then headed south to end up on Fountain and rode Fountain East and ended over near Hollywood and Normandie.

This was a nice ride and we hadn't done this much street riding in our neighborhood. I'm definitely far more comfy now with city riding, navigating traffic, not blocking turn lanes, etc. For some reason though (prob. the fact that we hadn't been on the bikes in a full week) once I have to do any sort of little hill/grade it wipes me out and I find I'm using those easy gears and going super duper slow. Once on flat I'm good again.

Final thoughts. Helmets make my head freaking hot. Most drivers are decent. Got honked at for the first time even on the shoulder of the road waving cars to pass on a narrow street. Another woman didn't seem to care we were in the road or that there was a stop sign. Needless to say she pissed a few of us off. And now that I'm cooling off, how I can get so freaking hot in such a short ride who knows, soon it's time to do errands: Target and Kohl's,

LOL. We did pass the amazing Sunday Hollywood Farmer's market, one of the biggest, but since we're heading east on Thursday we're not buying anything that can go bad while we're gone a week.

Just got back from riding around, and I do mean around, DC.
52 miles. Half trails and half streets.
Started in Rosslyn, then CCT, north on Jones Mill, Beach Drive, Rock Creek Trail, Mathew Henson Trail, streets to Wheaton Park, Sligo Creek, Northwest Branch, streets in Brentwood and NE (Allison, Varnum, 18th, West Virginia, 8th), Capitol Hill, Eastern Market, Independence to the river, Georgetown, Key Bridge back to Rosslyn.
Ride report with pictures will show up on my bike journal when I've cleared the backlog.

I rode to my mom's for dinner. She lives about 5 miles from me. We both live near the Anacostia Tributary Trails
network. Most of the route I took is part of the East Coast Greenway. These roadies are laughing at me because
I'm on a hybrid.

Took the fixed gear for a short ride today as my back and leg are bothering me and it makes one legged pedaling that much easier... met some friends for coffee, stopped at a garage sale, and chatted with a guy who had a 50th anniversary Nishiki road bike that still looked like it was nearly new.

I'll get pictures when it gets dropped off at my shop for an overhaul as it seems pictures of these are as scarce as the bikes themselves.
