I have a 1990? GT Timberline. Current changes are Sakae SX triple road cranks, Shimano Deore FD, Kenda 26"x1.5" tires, Ergon grips, Planet bike fenders, rack and Wald folding baskets, and Sunrace indexed thumb shifters.

2001 Rocky Mountain Team Only Vertex. Now with rigid fork, 26*1" slicks and electric assist. Platform pedals were put on so my mom could try it. I ride with Time Atac mtb pedals on all my bikes.
RM Team Vertex and Bionx... must be fast.
Hybridized mtbs are like alcoholic girlfriends.
Wicked fun, but painful to look at.
I have some pictures that are painful to look at but they are on my home computer. I swapped in fat 2.0 slicks and added both vertical style as well as drop style bars ends to a nasty old MTB I found in the trash. It was my first "commuter". It's fast for a MTB and all the bar ends add some versatility and comfort. It's a bit odd though and I'm much more comfortable and even faster on the hybrid I converted to a road bike.

I bought a used Ritchey Ascent in 1987. Ended up with a frame too big for mountain biking, so I biased the gearing toward road use and put Specialized Nimbus tires on it. Turned out to be an excellent and comfortable all-purpose bike. I rode it to work for years, and may do so again. Work was 7.5 miles away then and is now about 20 as the bicycle rolls.
An early '90s Marin Muir Woods I found at the dump and built up as a hybrid and gave to a local teenager. The fenders, bars, shifters, and levers were from the dump as well. The rack and the saddle bags were $5 at a yard sale. I believe I paid $15 for the saddle off ebay. I had the tires and crankset on hand. It only needed a new 7 speed cassette. It was a really nice ride. I was glad to pass it along.

Another Kuwahara...1985 Sierra Grande that I picked up yesterday that is already good to go anywhere.
It's none of my business what other people think of me.
Pretty much a XC frame, 26x1.75 Vittoria Adventure up front, 26x1.5 WTB Slickasaurus in back. The SKS plastic front fender isn't mounted presently.
Still good enough for singletracks, too.
Don't yet have a camera, so can't upload pics, but I guess my main bike quaifies ()
I've built it up starting with an '05 Giant Rainier (mid-level xc hardtail) -- what's left of that is the frame, (rebuilt) headset, and f/d.
The rest: Sram x9 gripshift, midcage r/d, 12-25 road cassette; BB7 brakes w/ SD7 levers, Shimano lx crank and 520 pedals; Giant carbon seatpost/Selle Italia; Mavic 717disc on XT hubs; Panaracer Pasela TG folding (1.5); a nice, 'new old stock' Marzocchi MX Comp air fork (one of the good ones, made in Italy circa 2005, weight about 3.5lbs).
All up: bike is just under 25 lbs, v. fast, and rides/handles perfectly for my needs.
Karate Monkey, 1x9, Pasela TG 35's. I use it as my commuter and joy-riding bike. I'm sitting up enough to comfortably watch traffic and enjoy scenery.

Y2K Kona Nunu. I put 1.5 Armadillos on it and the
suspension fork doesn't work anymore. Barends on
risers puts it firmly in the comfort bike category.

2007 Specialized Hardrock Sport with Michelin Transworld City 26 X 1.95 tires on it. it now has probably 1000 more miles on it, reflectors all over the seat stays and seatpost, and is a lot dirtier than it was in this pic.

Perhaps this is a more appropriate place to post a picture of my bike. Although the term hybridized would imply that the bike started out as something else and was changed by the user, which isn't the case with my ride. Bah, whatever, here it is anyway:

I purchased it new (as in unused) in 2008, but it might be as old as a 2006 model since that is the last model year it is listed as having the 2.2" wide tires available.

Here is my main bike... 2001 f500
Just changed the tires to Michelin city tires (they reflect, not whitewalls) and ergo grips...
Changes not in the pic are newer platform forte shovel pedals and removed the spoke gaurd.. (apparently its a sissy gaurd)
Cannondale headshocks with lock-out are awesome. Double bladed or Lefty.
