a friend on the team suggested to increase my vegetable intake while on a soft food diet, i should put some spinach into my smoothies.
lo and behold, he's right. i can drink this stuff all day, and the best part is that it doesn't feel as heavy as some of the other peanut butter containing concoctions that i made this past week
recipe for anyone interested
2 cup skim milk
1 scoop whey (optimum nutrition cookies & cream)
1 cup baby spinach
1 dollop of peanut butter (low fat version)

guys, i swear, you won't even taste the spinach. at first, i also threw in a banana and thought it was the banana that was masking the taste. but when i took out the banana the second time, it was still pretty good.
and yes, low-fat, which i believe is technically called peanut spread, not peanut butter. dammit, i'm a self loathing cyclist and i need to loose weight

The tapenade I made tonight was the awesome.
I also found out that my wife does not like Negronis. I made her one just before she walked in the door. She prefers her drinks to taste more like Koolaid (Cosmos or margaritas and the occasional White Russian) if it isn't a very classy red wine. To me this is a cognitive disconnect because the wines that she likes are nuanced and very expensive. The only saving grace is that she wants her "koolaid" drinks to be made with first class ingredients and she knows the difference. For "Cosmos" the most important ingredient is the cranberry juice. If you spring for the real thing (not cheap) you can go cheap on the flavored vodka and the "sweet" liquor (cheap Triple Sec instead of Cointreau). There is a discernible difference in taste, but it isn't that much.
As for margaritas I need at least 100% agave tequila and fresh lime juice. Cheap triple Sec is workable, but cheap tequila (what I call flavored rum) doesn't work and the worst thing possible is to substitute for fresh lime juice. If I use the best tequila in the world it would still make a horrid drink if you use a "mix" instead of the real thing.
Now boiling water to partially boil the rapinni before sauteing it.

My wife started this meal swap with some of her friends, and some of them are better cooks than others. Black bean hamburgers tonight. Very odd texture.

I found some beef flavored ramen packets in the office kitchen. Sprinkled it on celery. Not bad. Not bad at all.

I thought the farkin scale was broken. Kind of makes me want to do Whiteface.
I think the long ass ride in the searing heat had a bit to do with it though. My next check-in will be from the Diner where I will set up a perimeter of plates and bowls.

Had some friends over with their families and made 5 pizzas. The new oven did quite nicely, evenly cooking three pizzas at a time at 475. The best pizza had rosemary and garlic in the crust with marinara/mozzarella (as usual), pepperoni, sausage, onion, artichoke hearts, chopped spinach, and feta. Yum.
