I just bought a "smoke box" for my grill. I also bought some wood and I have chicken breasts marinading in an olive oil/lime juice mixture. I'm thinking mesquite is the way to go for chicken. And a NZ sauvignon blanc is chillin' in the fridge. That will go well with the pasta salad I started earlier, also doing its thing in the fridge.

Me too. But it's a much bigger percentage of my total weight on me (up to 135). I actually went to the doctor to get my thyroid/hormones checked because it was so sudden and unexpected. Great timing for the start of all the hilly road races!

This thread really needs a bump!
Earlier this afternoon I made a triple batch of my tapenade by my wife's request: Calamata olives, sun dried tomatoes, flat leaf parsley, tomato paste, balsamic vinegar, thyme, garlic, and my secret ingredient: pistachio nuts. Throw in a Cuissinart and push the button. So good. A fresh baguette is also in the house.
Tonight I am making our favorite peasant food: rapini with sausage and penne pasta. Just a squeeze of anchovy paste sweetens the dish. Lots of garlic and olive oil in this and a bit of white wine to deglaze after sautéing the garlic. If things are a bit too dry when sautéing I add a splash of chicken broth. It is very yummy. I grill the sweet Italian sausage on the grill.

Made avocado soup (corn, shallots, garlic, avocado, spicy pepper of your choice, lime juice, salt) in honor of Cinco de Mayo and fresh cilantro oil to drizzle on it. It is chillin' in the frig. It gave me an excuse to get out the chinoise. Put a few chunks of avocado coated with lime juice in the soup, a dollop of sour cream, and drizzle of cilanto oil and it is so yummy.
The better half is still in a mediation session that has been going on since 9 AM and she just texted me that it might be another hour or two. No worries. It will be even better.

I also had steel cut oats and ground flax, but topped mine with fresh blueberries and skim cow's milk.

Interesting. On a whim I put a little unsweetened greek yogurt in my protein shake. I was worried it would not mix well, but it actually did. Gave the shake more of a desserty feel without adding anything "bad".

Just finished stuffing a lot of small squid with home-made pork sausage. This will be grilled. Browning up the leftover ground pork with some fennel to be used in escarole soup. A nice bottle of 2007 Husch Gewurztraminer is chillin'.

Mollusk, one of your posts elsewhere brought me here. I'm hungry and having been missing out; lots of tasty stuff in this thread.
