Is there anyway to get a full sized picture from a jpg. on my computer without having to use Photobucket ?? Thanks.

As far as I know, you can't get full-sized photos from attachments; they will always be small until you click on them. You can only embed full-sized photos from a hosting site like Photobucket.

OK, so I tried the URL from Flickr, and I am still getting a thumbnail.

Yes you can.
Click on the "go advanced" post button and add the image you want as an attachment. After you have made your post click the attachment until it is displaying in its own window. Copy that url and edit your original post. Wrap the url you copied in image tags* and it will show up full size. You will however still see the small versions at the bottom of the post.
* Click "reply with quote" on this post to see correct format for image tags.
