Just wondering, Cassave. How much input did your wife have in the design? Did she want to get in on any of the fabrication fun too, or mostly just sit it out? I `m really trying hard to constrain myself and not fill up yet another page with gibberish about what an absolutely beautiful frame that is, but...
Damn! It almost hurts to look at. Goes beyond lust.
Certainly a beauty! The Mid-stays, are they straight tubing in the forward section. Seems to be what you said, but shadows, or something, are making it hard for me to tell.
She had no direct input really. She doesn't like drops or riding in traffic or messing with gears so: Upright bars, 3 sp hub, easy geometry for bike path use.
Fabrication fun!!? No. The workshop is MINE I tell you, MINE!
She is looking forward to the first ride however.
I started a neat stainless tube rack last night.
this bike is making me drool! post more pics.
Thanks, I thought that was what you had said, just looks even cooler than that!
This is awesome.
Finished the rear rack and got the frame and fork in primer, a few more pics;
A detail at the very rear of the rack;
In primer, color goes on next weekend

Yeah, that did it. This thread is now a sticky.

No. I asked my wife if she wanted downtube decals like the bike in the "How to Build a Lugged Steel Frame...." thread and she said no, keep it simple.
The only decal is the tubing sticker.
I'll shoot color and first clear tomorrow, a very light blue with cream head and seat tubes. Very close to the blue you used.
Got the frame and fork painted over the weekend.
Lug windows need another coat of cream and the gold lug pin striping gets done tonight.
Then another coat of clear and it'll be ready to build up.
The Nova tubes were fine to work with.

That's looking beautiful, Steve.

I should have been a racer. Don`t worry- if you keep giving her nice stuff like that, I don`t think I`d ever get my turn shaved or not. Outstanding job from top to bottom. Over and out.
Shrugs, looks like a hack job to me.
Oops, just kidding Steve,,,,,as always a work of art
Do you have another shop setup in the mountains?
thats a great paint scheme bro!!!!!!!classy! CONGRATS! that blue cream combo topped with the 3 gold lines is incredible!!
how did you do the lines? tape and brush?
Thanks.
Gold stripes are sprayed on after masking.
Pics of the complete bike will be up in about an hour.........
Just about finished...........
Built the bike up on Sunday afternoon except for the shifter. The modern SA two button shifter is huge. I've ordered an "old' style single lever trigger shifter so that has to wait until
it arrives later in the week.
A few pics:
