OK, it turns out that while my creation date is newer, my file modification time is already what it should be. But I'm not sure what should get the desktop app to sync with my .fit file...the Sync button? It didn't seem to do anything...?

After several weeks in a row of no real climbing due to rain, the weather finally cleared up yesterday. I made up for the lack of climbs with a good sufferfest. 5,171' of climbing in 44.29 miles in and around Coloma, CA.

This is Cold Springs Road (steep!), Lotus Road, Mt. Murphy Road (steep dirt road-yes I actually rode my road bike up this!), and the final descent of the day down Marshall Road. As with all my videos there's plenty of female cyclist suffer sounds on the climbs, so be forewarned!

Here's some more footage of the dirt road climb up Mt. Murphy Road from last Sunday's ride (caution heavy breathing!).

LOL! You should see the comment someone left about that on the video, and my reply.

Not quite cobblestones but that is a cool video. Did you have multiple cameras or just switch position every so often?

I did that climb seven times with the Contour mounted in various positions.

I bought a nifty iPod mount from Best Buy and set my iPod up on the handlebars. I went out on an hour-and-half ride, but only the first 50 minutes were actually recorded. When I got off my bike I saw that the iPod said something to the effect of "only 20% batter power left," which i assume is why the camera stopped recording.

Which is silly. Would anyone happen to know how to override this 20% power switch so that the camera won't stop recording? Is there a way to tweak the camera so that it won't stop until the juice runs out?
The pleasure is momentary, the position ridiculous, and the expense damnable.

This is Rattlesnake Bar Road between Pilot Hill and Folsom Lake. Lots of female cyclist suffer sounds on the climbs, so be forewarned!

You're welcome. I edited my custom user title to show why I enjoy climbing so much.

Ah, should have said. iPod Touch 4th Generation. I believe the 4G is the only Touch with video recording.

Here's a road climb and descent on my mtb. I had just completed a mtb ride and wanted more climbing, so I climbed the initial steeper section of Mormon Emigrant Trail in the Sierras, which begins at Jenkinson Lake and climbs for 1.5 miles before leveling off and descending for a bit.

As I neared the top of the climb I heard a few gunshots, which you can hear in the video starting at 3:17.

This video is a perfect example of why I always use a helmet-mounted ContourHD and a chest-mounted GoPro. The chest mount is the best for mtb rides and all climbs, but it sucks when you do a tuck while descending. The camera angle was too low on the descent, so I used the footage from the helmet cam for that part of the video (caution heavy breathing!).

Here's the mtb ride I did first. Lots of suffering on these climbs! MTB climbs are excellent strength training for road cycling.

A typical morning commute in the mountains. This is part of the short route as I wanted to get to work early and make coffee

42 mph at the fastest (not on the MUP).

Cheap ($14) and shaky camera, and sorry for the spitting at the end. Miller moth season here, and they are all over us.

Your $14 camera is much better quality than my $30 camera, a Vivitar DVR 480. See for yourself here. The Vivitar footage starts at 2:27. It was mounted to the handlebars with a Pedco UltraClamp. The initial 2:26 of footage was recorded with a Flip Video camcorder held in my hand while stationary, so it's much better quality.

This was my first test of these two cameras, and I happened to catch some interesting footage on the MUP.

Here's a time-lapsed video I shot of a recent century I did. The Mount Laguna Bicycle Classic.

    http://www.adventurecorps.com/mlbc/index.html

The event consists of 3 ascents up the same mountain, taking a different route for each ascent. Each "loop" gets progressively harder and steeper.

The video encapsulates the first climb and descent, and start of the 2nd ascent. Approximately 2.5 hours condensed into 13 minutes.

I shot this yesterday with a ContourGPS cam.
I wanted to see how the shots would come out
without using any mounts, just handheld.
A bit shaky Filmed in Brooklyn, NYC.

For yesterday's ride I decided I wanted to be able to capture footage of things that aren't always directly in front of me, so I used the helmet-mounted ContourHD.

I think I included every cyclist I saw on this 44 mile ride, plus some other random sights and sounds. This is an out-and-back ride between Newcastle and Colfax in Placer County, CA. Plenty of climbing and great scenery, which the helmet mount does a better job of capturing.

Nice T-bird in the first minute! What kind of camera is this? The Contour?

Yup. ContourHD on the vented helmet mount. The Thunderbird was a '63, according to the personalized license plate it had.
