How many run brakeless?
Just wondering, don't know if I have the balls to take the front brake off. How did you make the switch? Just Fin do it and learn? Or take it slow?

Bikes that are drilled for brakes should have brakes. Don't take your brake off. You will earn no streed cred points by taking it off. You will only gain poser points for trying too hard.

I do not have a brake, but I did for the longest time. You'll know when u can take it off, even then though, its a better idea to keep it on. But I must admit, it kinda was like breaking free from that one girlfriend we've all had (or boyfriend).

I've only ridden brakeless a few times.
-my front brake broke
-rode my friend's brakeless bike
-decided to brakeless to the velodrome
You know it did feel different riding brakeless but I couldnt get myself to go more that like 15 mph on flat road. It was fun but slow. Have gooooood foot retention. The cleats for my LOOK pedals were wornout I and pulled out the then a couple times.

I'm thinking about buying a Kilo and running it brakeless just to see if I can get used to it. Plus I need a good excuse to add another bike to the garage...

Ya know, jus cuz u hav a front brake don't mean u gotta use it. But it's sure nice when grandma comes flying outta her driveway w/o lookin' or runs a stop sign to have the front brake option instead of low siding yer bike. I can go days, even weeks w/o using my brake, but sooner or later I'm gonna need it, usually when I least expect it.

I do when I'm on the track, and when I'm riding after the track.
I value my bike too much to run brakeless normally. I never use it, but it might save my ass in the future.
On another note, my friend and another local kid rode brakeless fixed last night with me on our midnight century...

Regardless how anyone feels about riding brakeless, I think we can all agree that one shouldnt start riding without a brake unless they have ridden with one for a good amount of time.

well I have been running my Langster with a front brake for a couple years, just thought I would try the stress of brakeless.

I've only been riding without a brake for 3 months or so, only because I don't have a lever for the bars I was gifted and am using. And like hairnet said, it's slow. Riding brakeless means you need to be paying attention 100% of the time, and you need to be especially cautious. In other words, don't race to the redlight at full speed, because you won't be able to slow down in time if it's not clear (or at least I can't). Also, I've been told, and am not surprised, that if you get hit, even if whoever you hit is at fault/hit you by road laws, you didn't have a brake, thus it's automatically your fault (within certain reason, of course).
