Why I didn't ride today!

Well today just started but i KNOW i won't be riding. I rode yesterday with what I think is a sprained big toe. But isn't so much the toe part, it's more at the base of the toe, ball of the foot thing. I took a test ride yesterday before I took off on the longer ride and it felt okay. Figured with bike shoes on they would take most of the pressure off of the toe. And it felt okay when I got home from riding. Didn't feel any worse anyway. Felt okay all night... Well until about 4:30am when it started hurting so bad it work me up. I have been soaking it in hot water for about 2hrs which made it feel better. But ... I have things to do today... on my feet things and it is starting to hurt all over again... uggggg Thing is.... I have NO idea how I did it.....

It's been cold and raining here for 40 days and 40 nights. Can't wait to get down to FL to ride the Withlacoochee.

Man this is killing me... Had the flu for 4 or 5 days.... just got over that and now.... Turf Toe.... HURTS HURTS hurts... nothing you can do really but stay off of it. And I can't totally do that... And the weather is sooooo AWESOME!!!!

gosh, hope that toe gets better. Hubby is having an issue with his foot. Going to the doc next Monday. He has that Plantar something stuff. Probably looking at a shop for relief. But, hopefully will relieve the pain. He's been living withit now for over 3 weeks.

Hope you can get out there and ride. The weather has been beautiful. Unfortunately I'm not getting out much due to work. Tax season sucks! Leaving in the dark and getting home in the dark. Hoping for another short ride this weekend.

I'm too dumb to go to the doc... <sigh> But I just might have to go... I've had turf toe before.. and it really does feel like that.. only is a LOT worse than I have ever had it before. Felt pretty good when I woke up this morning... But today was one of those days that I had to be on my feet. And by the time I could sit and relax it was hurting pretty bad again. I've actually been using my bike shoe as a brace because the sole does not bend. Went to the post office with a bike shoe on one foot and tennis shoe on the other. LOL

Going to TRY and stay off of it tomorrow and see how that does... If not any better i'll go to the doc

Update...... Still no riding for me yet.... The swelling in my foot/toe has almost all gone away. Still can't put my weight on the ball of my foot & it still does not have full range of motion. But it isn't hurting like it was (knock on wood) as long as I don't try to put too much weight on it. Or walk on it too much.

SUCKS ... sUCks .... SuCkS ... With all this nice weather and NO riding.....

Didn't ride today, or any day this week for that matter. I have a broken chain and no time to get it fixed. Saturday it happens, Or I'm quitting.

Yep... duct tape wont work on a chain.... DOH!!

No time to even try a short ride today... Just busy and more busy all day... Imma try and ride tomorrow and see how the foot/toe feels..

Lol!!! Duct tape!! I was able to make it to my local bike shop and have a decent chain installed. Touched up all components and bike is smooth! Can't wait for sunday. Riding at the Virginia key MTV trails with some friends early! Check in afterwards to give an update! Check you guys later!

No riding since last Saturday.

It was cold Sunday and we went back to Atlanta on Monday for business on Tuesday. I had/have a sinus infection or something on Tuesday thru today so didn't feel like doing much. Slept a lot on Wednesday. Drove back to Hernando yesterday. Rain/sprinkles today. Tomorrow is looking much better.

Manged to Commute in two days this week. But the rest the weather sucked and I drove. I have hardly been riding since Thanksgiving. I'm so off my miles. Doubt I have 80 miles this winter. I have packed on a good 15lbs

Wife decided "we are doing P90X" and we started that this week. Ohh god I'm not sure I will survive. Its the bouncing and high impact suff thats killing me...the exact reasons I ride. My ankles and knees hurt like hell after doing it.

I did get back at her. I MADE her feel bad about the fact that I commuted and I already get a decent amount of exercise, in particular the cardio so "whats good for the goose is good for the gander"...She had to match my miles on the bike on the trainer. So she pulled 4 miles yesterday (almost what I did except no hills LOL). She was walking around last night like the had casts her legs they were so stiff. She couldn't do half the P90X workout

Now it is almost 50f, sun is shining...I am going to go get in a quick 10 miles so I dont have to make an excuse for today.

Then its yard work, clean garage and try to get a flipper done before the rain gets here.

I had plans to ride today.... I really did... The plan was to go check out the Iron Horse runners that were running on The Palatka Lake Butler trail ----> http://www.ironhorse100kmclub.com/info.html ... 100 mile run, 100k run or 50 mile run... These people are crazy.. They are running mostly on the unpaved trail from Palatka to Grandin. The whole trail is rail road rocks with a tiny bit of grass or dirt on top in some places. I would twist an ankle in the first 100 feet if I tried running on it. I can't imagine running on it in the dark in the middle of the night.

But anyway... I was going to ride state road 100 that parallels the trail and just kind of check it out. But when I woke up and checked the weather it said 60% chance of rain all day. Of course it hasn't rained yet... Least here at home anyway...

But I did do a little recon.... For my next ride in Etoniah Forest.... & Florida Trail in my area...

Nope .... didn't ride today... Seriously it said 60% change of rain. Hardly rained a drop all day. Then cleared up and was sunny.. But VERY WINDY... By that time I had other things on my agenda and didn't go ride. BUT ... I did take 2hrs to clean my Mountain bike up for the next ride. Even took apart the cassette and cleaned it. Broke down the chain and cleaned it, re-installed it with a KMC Master link (so cleaning will be easier next time...

Now I just need to STOP being lazy and go on a ride..

I had planned on at least a short ride today.... But the one friend that used to ride with me last year called and said he found a bike on craigslist that he wanted to go check out. Sooo we took off to Gainesville to check it out. He ended up buying it..... Now the question is.... Will he ride it???

No ride today even though the weather was awesome. Had to spend some time with the wife so we went to Ocala to do some shopping. I was looking for more shorts (I wear shorts year round) and my wife was looking for shorter jean style pants and tops. She found several pairs of pants and tops. I found nothing. All the shorts I found were longer than I like.
Had lunch at Cody's Roadhouse. Usually the food is good but it was terrible today.

Tomorrow is ride day.

Went to the bike shop... Came home worked on friends bike (not that I know what I'm doing).. Adjusted the shifting & brakes, even trued a wheel a lil bit.. Got done... And he still had other things to do than go for a ride.. Soooooo I didn't ride either...

Riding my Butt off this week. I wanted to do the GA ride to the Capital on Tuesday but I just didnt have the legs for it. Group I ride with does round trip and starts off Lower Roswell. Its a 52 mile loop and the last 5 miles is some brutal rollers down to The Hooch and back up through Atlanta Country club. My wife gets lost easy and didn't want her driving in circles trying to find me down town.

Sooo much other stuff going on ATM... Lots of excuses.. dont feel like listing them all ..

JUST now (after midnight) got back from a 160 mile round trip to Jacksonville. Went with friend to buy a bike he found on Craigslist. He got a hell of a deal on the bike. Its a Cannondale 29'er mountain bike, Deore shifters, Shimano hydraulic disk brakes, Alivo crank & front derailer (Sheldon Brown spelled it that way), 2011 model that the guy bought 3 months ago ... with all the paperwork.. NEW helmet and extra pedals for $325.00 .... I'll take pictures tomorrow...

MAYBE he will ride.... Maybe i'll have somebody to ride with once in awhile again and help keep me motivated....

well, hip surgery is scheduled for this coming Friday. I haven't rode since early January when I found out that I needed surgery. Not even able to get on the spinner or recumbent at the gym as the twisting is too painful. I've put on about 35 pounds since last August when I had my knee replacement. But, I'm determined that as soon as I can, I WILL be back on my bike. I just never thought I'd miss something so much. I've been reading the boards occasionally but basically just working and coming home and sitting. I had to go back to using the cane a few weeks back and now since I can't take any ibuprofen for the next week, I am back to the walker. The pain meds help at night but can't take them during the day. Anyway, llooking forward to posting to the "Did you ride today" thread real soon.

Good luck with the surgery, let us know how it goes!! The old saying (and song lyrics) is true... "you don't know what you have got, till its gone"... But you do have the right attitude, you will be back on the bike soon!!

Just a follow up to this post.. We went and picked up that bike for my friend on 3/29 .... and now its April 22.. and he has ridden it ONE time ... ONE TIME ... Not counting the few times he has ridden it 2 blocks from his house to mine.....

I've only ridden once since we got back to Atlanta on April 1.

After riding on the Withlacoochee and Nature Coast trails I got spoiled. Riding in the Atlanta traffic is not fun (never was) and certainly isn't as scenic as riding the trails.

I gotta get my lazy butt off the couch and get out there. Too windy yesterday and too cool and windy today.
Maybe Wednesday.
