I have a couple of aims over the next few weeks. One is to go camping and two is to replace my cross bike that was crushed three weeks ago on my way home from the Tour de l'Alberta.
I thought it might be a worthy goal to tackle the Highwood Pass on the new ride which brings me to my question. Does anyone know of a good, quiet, inexpensive or free camp spot in Kananaskis country somewhere in the 75-100km from Highwood Pass area?
I have an Outback and may be getting a Jeep to replace the car that was written off too, so I should be able to get into most places.
Were you the one who uploaded the pic of the Kona on the TdeA Facebook group? Did your insurance (or the driver at fault's insurance) cover the damage?
Yeah that was me. I didn't have collision (bad idea) but the at fault driver's insurance (SGI) is paying. I think I was short changed about $500 on the Sunfire but I think I'm going to do OK on the bike. They're paying purchase price for the bike and non-stock parts less 10% depreciation.
Honestly, two weeks ago I figured I was was going to court. All in all, the TdeA was expensive and I'm down a month of summer riding. If all goes well I'll be picking up the replacement bike on Thursday.

TNO, did you end up camping and riding out there at all? I did my 300 km brevet on Sep 11 as planned (link to brief ride report), but it was pretty miserable weather at the pass that day. One of the other guys who did the same brevet said he got passed on the way up by another cyclist that wasn't part of our group; it just occurred to me that it might have been you.
