Bikes direct just received a shipment of Dawes SST AL's today. I just ordered one since they've been out of stock. Check their Facebook for updates on Kilo tt or strippers.

So if I bought one and gave it a proper , well detailed, and thought out modern cinelli-deco paint job and slapped on a columbus sticker your big ass would get on it?

A number of people...including ones on these forums...have one and they seem to like em. It's a road bike and not a mountain bike. The chances of it failing...unless you're hucking off 3ft+ stair drops...are slim. Or is it because it isn't plastered with a big name brand? Most of these bikes are made in the same factory as them.

The SST-AL among other aluminum BD goodies is made by kinesis and the closest name brand you're going to get to is raleigh but do keep in mind that there are cost cutting practices/details at these very same factories as determined by the orderer of the contract (i.e. BD) that can effect the final out come and quality of products from different manufacturing lines within. Think about it in an automotive way, you have volkswagon group who owns both audi and of course volkswagon and say they operate a plant that makes both; which one is higher quality and commands the higher dollar?

Seems to be a lot of your name brand companies. My point is that most of the brands today are made over seas to spec. The overseas manufacturer can take a design and tweak it slightly and sell it them selves. I ride MTB as well and there's a big thread on MTBR.com about carbon 29er frames, people love em and many have ridden with no ill affect.
Anyway, just wanted to post the original post for people wanting one.
