Bike Shops in and around Dublin?

    Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good bike shops in and around Dublin. I will be doing a study abroad there in January and I am looking to buy a bike once I get there. I have an internship at the Dail (sorry I don't know how to add the accent) and I will be commuting. I would prefer to do it by bike if possible.

So I guess I have two questions. 1. What is a good bike shop in Dublin (I'm more concerned about quality service than cheap prices)? 2. What type of bike would you recommend that I get in Dublin? I live in Chicago and usually ride fixed, but I'm not sure how flat Dublin is, and I don't know if riding fixed there is practical.

    Thanks!

There are some ok shops in Dublin, I used these three myself, when I was living in ublin
www.cycleways.com and http://www.cyclelogical-bikes.com both, in the centre of Dublin.
www.cyclesuperstore.ie, a few km from Dublin is a big shop

Cycleways is probably the best of these and. Cyclesuperstore is a big shop. Cyclelogical has nice stuff, but the staff was not very friendly, they only sell bikes, not repair them.
None of these are cheap and mostly sell the latest stuff.

Dublin is a flat city, no need for gears.

First Dublin isn't in the United Kingdom.

Normally I'm with the other Dubs over in the Europe sub-forum.

Cycleways is probably your best bet especially if you aren't worried about the price.

Should be able to ride fixed wheel around Dublin. All the cycle couriers seem to manage it.

Good luck in the Dáil. There's an election on the way and a lot of the guys you meet in January won't be back after it.
