If you keep in mind the context of the question (2nd grade homework) then you'd realize that the student wouldn't be expected to come up with the more complicated correct answer of 27. It's entirely possible the teacher thought you (the parent) helped too much and her comment was a snarky remark to you.
Personally I think the teacher missed the boat. Her comment used a poor choice of words. She should have marked it correct and then talked to your child about what answer the lesson was looking for.

There is a slit-scan feature, but I'm not entirely sure how it works. I believe it's only 60fps though, so that wont' be any more information than regular HD video, although I believe the output could work like a finish line camera, which would make analysis much easier.
Here's the description (search for slit-scan). You have to post-process the output, and I haven't gone to the trouble of trying it out yet.

Uber dork topic -- Ham radio. Anybody ever get into it? I'm reading up on it and the whole radio wave propagation, transmission, reception, modulation / demodulation is pretty fascinating stuff. Turning into an archaic hobby with the interwebs to a degree, but radio theory is fascinating. It's actually really pertinent too given how much data is transmitted via radio now. The voice aspect and connection to the remote world is what the interwebs has pretty much made obsolete.
I'm thinking of getting licensed and trying to make connections to far off places with low power equipment -- 5 to 20 watts output.
My grandfather was a wireless pioneer, W2ZI. He had what was the largest private antique wireless equipment museum in the country. It included the smallest working telegraph key ever made, as well as the key from the Titanic. After his passing all of it was donated to a smaller museum, making that museum the biggest antique wireless museum in the world. We called him Sparky. He had all sorts of cool stuff for kids to get in trouble with. Spark wheel transmitters, vacuum tubes from the transmitters atop the Empire State building, stuff like that. I studied for my license but never took the test.

I'd recommend glass before body, depending on what you have.
FWIW: that was ~650 images. I shot another 550 the night before. These were all action shots for a swim team fundraiser (over $1000 raised).

well, just like bike racing: figure out what your limiters are with the things you're photographing, and learn skills and buy stuff to eliminate them. That XSI is like a CAAD9. T2i is great, but it's really just a newer CAAD9. XSI is clearly a capable body...

I would like some video capability though. Lots of fun to be had with that. My pocket camera is DYING. Maybe I should try to revive it for this trip. Dropping a DSLR while taking video on motorcycle would suck.
I think that there's an issue with the lens or the sensor. I get this weird bright red pixel in every picture in about the same place and it's not my monitor.
I need to check and see if it happens with both lenses (sensor) or just one (lens). The lens addition is probably the smart thing to do. I could have some fun with a wide angle and prime lens.
I've had some good shots with the camera as well.
