Hey all!
I plan on being at the Indianapolis, IN Tour de Cure!
This will be my first group/organized/anything longer than commuting ride.
I am VERY excited to do this ride!
OH! Did I mention I am a Red Rider too! I am a Type 2 Diabetic.
If you wish to help me raise funds my page link is:

I will be riding the only bike I own, a 2009 Trek 4500 Mountain Bike. It is the only bike that could handle me. I am 6' 4" tall w/o shoes, and approx. 400 lbs.
I will be taking photos and weighing in every Monday to keep track of my journey to this event and reclaiming my health and life. I quit smoking 14 months ago, and am now making the next step in making major changes in my lifestyle and reclaiming the health I had once obtained in my youth.
I am honored to be able to participate in such an event that is so close to something that means so much to me.
Keep it up..

I'm riding the one in Jacksonville, FL on May 21. It'll be my first century ride to boot.
Shameless plug to follow.
I'm holding a contest until 18-Mar-11 on my blog to help with the fundraising. You can enter to win a $75 gift certificate to classiccycling.com while helping raise funds for the Tour de cure. Check out my post here:

I am doing the Nashville / Murfreesboro Tennessee ride May 21, 2011.
I'm doing the one in Houston along with my wife and three friends/neighbors. This will be our first group ride and we're totally excited! Just out of curiosity, will this be an open start? Or will everybody be starting together at the same time?
My first Century will be with Tour de Cure in Napa on May 1, 2011. Just joined yesterday.
Click to donate! Thanks.
My friends and I that are participating all finally received our paperwork. Ready to go. Got a new kick ass carbon rig to ride that I am sure I'll be showing off and I plan on raising over 500.00 this year. Last year I believe it was about 240 or something that I did.
I guess this will be a metric century course as it will be 100km or 62.5 mile route. Last year I only participated in the 35 mile ride. Why, I have no idea? I think it was because the people I was with were not convinced they could ride 60+.
The homepage meter is going up day by day at the Tour de Cure master home page. This is good news for anybody who may be indirectly being helped. Keep up the riding guys.

Type 2 Red Rider doing the Long Beach 61 mile on a recumbent. Hoping to hit $750 in fundraising this year, but it's hard because everybody I know is broke.
I registered the other day for the Indy ride. I think I'll do the track version, and see how far I can get. I'm not harboring any illusions of making it a century, but it would be nice to get 20 laps in anyway.
Looking forward to it!

napa, ca 50 miles. did a century in 1985. haven't gone more than 10 since but i am stoked.
Bump, to get my new signature line in front of everyone in case there are any potential donors out there. Since I'm doing the track ride, and there aren't many hills at the Speedway, I'll be on my old '90 Trek. Actually I should probably stop calling it a '90 since the frame was replaced under warranty around 2000, and some of the other components have been swapped/upgraded over time, as well. It's sort of like that old hammer that's been in the family for generations, and has had head and handle replaced several times. Sorry about the non-drive-side pic:

I'll be doing the 104 mi. ride, starting in Encinitas CA. I rode the last 70 miles of it this Saturday, and it's a beautiful route.
3 from Virginia doing the NC Century! This will be my third TDC Century - I lost a brother at age 58, and most of my family is affected with Type 2. My 15 year old nephew is highly motivated, as he was 8 when he lost his dad to Type 1 (my BIL). He even recruited another friend to ride with us, so I'm sure the NC folks will know we're there! Neither has done anything like this, but someone advised that teens probably wouldn't be able to keep focused enough to train and accomplish a century for their first ride. Oh, great - put a challenge out there in front of them!
If anyone has ideas for fund raising, or would like to help us, please let me know!

^^ That is very cool momonbike and welcome to the forums. BF is one of the best places on the net for cycling info in all regards. Its funny how much easier it is to get excited about it each year.

Our team now has 27 riders. This is my first year so I don't know but am told that is pretty good to have 27 people riding on one team. Sounds like we have more people interested also.
I am hoping for warmer weather so I can get out more. I have to do 51 miles with some pretty good hills so it won't be an easy task for me.

Im in for sure , the event in Saratoga NY is a big ride 1300+ riders, I always enjoy it
the past 3 years Ive been able to raise over $1K and thus obtain CELEBRITY status and get to go to the dinners, get extra shirts , and many perks that go along with raising over $1K.
This year My fund raising will be nixed as My wife used to get 1/3 of my donations from her school, she took an early retirement this year so that avenue for funds is gone.
also Im an organizer for another cycling event for a local Cancer foundation this will be the second year (ill need sponsors for that) , I have a fund raiser kayak event (also need sponsors) and another ride Id like to do for another cancer Group that has minimum fund raising requirement for the ride of $250.00
so This year Ill step down from celebrity status with TDC and participate in a few more events with procedes from my pool of regular donors being spread out vs just Given to TDC..
But yep Im in.
