    Date of Ride: 09/03/2011
Type of Ride: Unorganized 5-7 man escape-the-heat century
    Actual Mileage: 102.8
    Ride Time: ~6 hours
    Total Time: ~8.5 hours
    Climbed: ~5kft
Weather conditions: Cool, especially with the marine layer in the morning, warm as we crested the final climbs in PV, and not-quite-hot back in the San Fernando valley.
Synopsis of Ride: Riding from North Hollywood over Sepulveda, down San Vicente to the coast - following side streets and beach paths for the most part to Redondo Beach - up to Palos Verdes for a couple loops of long climbs and descents. Good weather, good views, good friends. Lots of coffee/food stops, a street fair, and the Lone Wolf! We turned around and then took the Ballonna bike path then cut through Beverly Hills back over Franklin Canyon before splitting up for various end-points involving food and beer.

    Date of Ride: 09/10/2011
Type of Ride: Bicykillers Double Century (5 men Northbound, 1 man Southbound)
    Actual Mileage: 238.6
    Ride Time: ~12 hours
    Total Time: ~16 hours
    Climbed: ~8436ft
Weather conditions: Cool temps, cross-winds along Hueneme, and intermittent rain all morning.
Synopsis of Ride: North Hollywood to Santa Monica via Sepulveda, PCH up the coast, getting lost in Oxnard, up to Ventura, and finally to Santa Barbara for lunch. Rode the southbound route solo - back the way we came (getting lost again in Ventura and Oxnard briefly), but taking Potrero rather than following PCH after Port Hueneme. On up through Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley, then up over Santa Susana pass back to the valley. De Soto down to the bike path, straight to Tony's Darts Away (beer bar in Burbank), downing a pint, then heading home.

Map here. Sufficient training for next week's sextuple century? I'll know soon.

Type of Ride: Tour de Poway, '11
    Actual Mileage: 101.65
    Ride Time: ~5:30ish
    Total Time: 6:27 (&$^%#@* stoplights!!)
    Avg Speed: 18.9
    Avg Power: 187W
    Avg HR: 151bpm
    Climbed: 4770ft
Weather conditions: A little warm this year, but only on the climbs heading east.
Synopsis of Ride: Up Poway Grade, 67 to Ramona, down 78 to Escondido, to San Marcos to Carlsbad (VERY tempted to throw in the towel and just ride home,) to Del Mar, to Fairbanks Ranch to Rancho Bernardo, back to Poway. Really stunk up the road this year, but I'll be better prepared next year!

Just because no one else knows it's a race, that still doesn't mean I'm not winning.

    Date of Ride: 10/29
Type of Ride: AdventureCorps Death Valley Fall Century
    Actual Mileage: 107.73
    Ride Time: 5:29:21
    Total Time: 5:57:07 (Finished first!)
    Avg Speed: 19.6
    Avg Power: 227W (And that's the zero-average.)
    Avg HR: 161bpm
    Climbed: 4613ft
Weather conditions: Perfect! Very little wind for Death Valley. Road was nice and smooth. And AdventureCorps always puts on the best event. It was hugely fun to be "that guy" flying down the climb (riding 5 miles in almost exactly 10 minutes) while everyone else is still pumping up the grade. Definitely bringing aero bars and wheels next year! I'd like to say "it was no skin off my nuts" to finish that last 20 miles with a slight headwind, but I'd be lying. (Yeowch!)

Dagnabbit, wish I'd seen this earlier. I've got at least a century a month and most months I got two or more.

Synopsis of Ride: "The ride will start at the ferry dock in Bremerton, Washington (a one hour ferry ride from Seattle) and heads southwest along the Hood Canal before linking up with US-101. We then follow US-101 along the Washington and Oregon coasts, occasionally taking quieter back roads . From Pacific City, Oregon we continue south on US-101 & back roads to Reedsport, Oregon, where we head inland over OR-38 and some awesome back roads to Roseburg. The final leg is the climb up to Crater Lake (7,600 feet) via OR-138, a descent on OR-62, and then along the west side of Klamath Lake to the end at Klamath Falls, Oregon."
