Simplex RD woes.....
https://s246.photobucket.com/albums/g...rand%20Sports/
I have a worn out Simplex RD on this bike. I have few decent rd's but none of them fit the dropout hanger. Another BF member said that this has Zeus drop outs. I can't post better pics right now, but I was wondering if anyone knew if these would be French threads and if a Huret rd might fit?
Thanks in advance!!!

Thumpic, bad link on the photo.
You can try this one if you twist my arm hard enough.

Thanks PastorBob!!! That's very generous!! Sorry my link is bad; I'll fix it when I get home.
However my rd screws in to the drop out w/o a hanger. I'll be sure to post a pic of the drop out.
BBM...thanks for the suggestion.
I was thinking Huret because of the supposed French threading. Do either of you know if Raleigh used that threading on the bikes with Simplex components?

Thumpic. There was a thread a while ago concerning Huret on Simplex dropouts. You might check the archives. No expert myself, but I don't think it'll fit without an adapter of sort or maybe not even with that. I think you can remove that hanger and use the old bolt from yours and mount a new one.
Zeus drop outs?...on a Raleigh ?........ is this the April Fool's part???

If it's the forged Simplex DO (as on a PX10), you would have to drew it to accept a Campy style DR.
Simplex DO's were made to take Simplex DRs, and you really don't want to grind it.
Someone did that to one of the Project bikes in my queue, and it is devalued as a consequence

OOps. what I meant was, use PastorBob's replacement by removing the hanger off that derailleur and using your attachment bolt. DON'T grind the dropout hanger!

A Simplex mech should work fine on a Zeus dropout -- it doesn't use the threads in the dropout but is held in place by the Allen bolt threaded in from the back.
