    1950's Claude Butler

Hi We have a 1950's Claude Butler Touring Cycle which belonged to my dad.

All original parts saddle and pump in good condition but not in working order.

I am wondering how much this bike would be worth.. and also whether I should get it repaired. Is there a particular vintage bike specialist I should go too?

I wish I could upload a pic but I can;t seem to work out how to do it..!

    Many thanks

    Becky

It's gona be hard to give you any info without more from you i'm afraid, Claud butler are great bikes with a good rep, still being made today as part of the Falcon group. I have a "Dalesman" tourer myself and i love it dearly but unlike yours it is only 2 years old. These bikes are very collectable and i've seen them fetch good money on ebay but it all depends on things like quality, rarity, condition and unusualness. I would say it is definately worth getting it working again but i'm sentimental about such things.

    thanks for info Jez

Yes you are right I would love to get it going again..... but it may be beyond my bike maintainance skills....!!!!
It has all original features, saddle, pump etc its tyres will need replacing and there is some bits of rust in areas. Its tricky to know which bits to restore and which bits too leave. Just found the Old bicycle Showroom based in Essex think I will give them a bell as it looks like they do some great restoration work judging from the pics on their website.

    Anyway thanks for you thoughts

    Best wishes
