A folder on a folder

Went to 4 bike shops yesterday looking for a new geared folder, since my only folding bike was a single-speed 16" wheel 1982 Dahon Da Bike. I was riding my folding 3-wheeler, a 2011 Worksman Port-O-Trike. I found a 7-speed 20" wheel Dahon Speed D7 at REI for $499. Since all bikes are now 15% off, the final price before tax was $424. After purchasing a rack trunk, bar ends, bottle cage ($2.99-what a steal!), tire liners, new pedals, toe clips, and a spare tube, total cost after tax was still only $585

You can see my backpack in the shopping cart stuffed with the accessories (and my sweatshirt). I put it on my back and rode home with no problems. The ride home was almost all MUP, so that was even better.

I often carry a folding bike home in a trailer after dropping my wife at the train station, and I love the confused looks I get as I collapse the Dahon and place it in the trailer. Must be even more convenient with the trike!

Wait until you have to bring the trike into the shop, maybe you can fold it up and put it on the Speed's rack.

This is how I would transport the trike. This is how I got it home from the LBS when I bought it back in March. The only thing I would do differently is put some padding between the front fork on the Worksman and the basket on the big Gomier. When I got home that day I found out that the basket had rubbed all the paint off part of the fork. A little touch-up paint fixed that.
