Good Deal?
Hey guys, I don't know if I am posting in the right place but I need help to see if a craiglist's posting is a good deal or not.
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/bik/2450706348.html
That is the link to the page.
There isn't much information on it other than it being a 56cm frame(which is perfect for me). If anyone can identify what kind of Atala bike is and the weight, that would also be very helpful.
Thank you.
Oh and I also have the option of getting a BD bike.
So the choices are:
Craigslist listing up above ($350)
Motobecane Track ($279.95)
Windsor The Hour ($279.95)
Windsor Clockwork ($299.95)
But if I buy from BD, I need to buy tools/go to LBS to help me with it which costs money too.

The components are nothing to speak of. Basically you are buying a vintage frame with the braze-ons cut off.
It's old and steel so it's not light.
I'd pass. But, that's just me.

Alright, so I narrowed it down to Windsor The Hour in white and Windsor Clockwork.
If I get the Hour, is the brake interchangeable between the rear and front wheels? Because on BD, it lists it as "FREE Rear Brake and Lever." Does that mean I can only use it on the rear wheels? I was thinking of making it into a fixed bike and moving the brake to the front wheels. Is this possible? Or should I just get the (arguably) uglier black Clockwork.

To interchange the brakes you will need to buy a longer recessed nut, which will probably only be a couple dollars, if that, at your local bike shop.
Do not get that Atala.

Have you actually done this? When I tried to do this, the pivot bolt on the rear brake caliper was so short that it didn't pass through the front of the fork sufficiently to engage the threads on the nut.

Your cog is slipping.
I have, when building a Fuji Feather for a customer at the shop that only came equipped with a rear brake. You just need to use a long enough nut. I think the one I used was around 30mm.

The problem I had was not that the nut was too short, but that the caliper pivot bolt didn't extend into the fork crown. I understand the concept of the longer recessed nut, and did have a long nut to use, but it didn't matter.

How does https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/bik/2450086649.html sound?
Does it seem like a reasonable price, if not how much do you think it's worth?
also this https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/bik/2455192445.html

Idk too much about the Fuji Silhouette but it's carbon and only $150???!!!! Also I believe it's a women's bike; not sure if that makes any difference to you.
