Hi I recently joined the site and am pleased to be a part of such a great thing. I was wondering if there any groups or individuals in Ottawa area doing recreational rides on weekends or evenings.
looking to make some new freinds and maybe other riders into same thing, just to ride, hang out and socialise.
Geez, I hate to see a friendly person sitting here with no replies at all. Orleans is about as far as you can get from me (in Kanata) and still be in Ottawa, so I know nothing about the bike scene out your way. (Or around here, either. I usually ride alone, or with my wife or adult offspring). Maybe you could try checking with any bike shops out there in the east end. There are lots of good places to ride all over the region, on and off road.
Hi Marmot, from what I can see in orleans the bike scene is pretty dull....I usually ride on my own or hook up with a buddy from work. I have seen Kunstadtt sports doing eve and weekend rides but havent been able to get down to one of them yet. How are you coping with the weather, yesterday was brutal. Hey, Britguy. I've been riding early and late to avoid the midday heat. On that REALLY hot day (Thursday?) I got my workout done in an air-conditioned gym, then spent most of the afternoon and evening immersed in the Mississippi River. I usually don't mind the heat, but that day was brutal.
OMG tell me about it.....we dont have central air and the little window a/c just couldnt cope.....house just kept heating up.....went out Sat morning and did 65km, was nice at start, just before 9.00am but by midday....jeeez I thought I was gonna melt.....should have gone out earlier I guess....

I'm from Orleans as well. (Haven't been on this site for a while) What sort of recreational riding are you interested in? I know that Orleans Cycles of St Joseph has a friendly group that gets out and about. Have you tried out Frank Kenny Road; 17km of flats from Innes to Vars with a 6' shoulder. :-)
