I was on track to finish the challenge, but I got sick last Sunday with a fever of 104, couldn't ride the whole week. Sad that I didn't finishand I definitely won't be doing the next challenge!

He was riding the same 2-mile stretch of the road (minimum elevation: 700 ft, maximum elevation: 850 ft), over and over and over and over ....
But take a look at the first two places. That's where the most heated battle is still going on. That's absolutely amazing. A few days ago Brian was leading by 20-30k feet. Right now Jeremy is ahead. I bet those guys will be riding non-stop till midnight. Looks like Brian is stronger and more experienced, but Jeremy is more motivated. He's been averaging 40 hours/week on the bike for the last month.
Ended up with 66,255 feet, would have had about 69,000 feet but computer battery was dead for one ride, not that it really matters since I was still a long way from completing the challenge.
I may be fat but I'm slow enough to make up for it.
Ouch! I did the last 7k with some nasty cuts on the inside of the knee from the chainring. (Carrying neosporin and band-aids in the underseat bag proved to be a very good idea.) But I wouldn't ride with any kind of fever.
I'm not doing the next challenge either. Let the flatlanders have that one. If I wanted to do it, I'd have to do what the 250K guy from Oklahoma City did, but in reverse: ride the only stretch of flat road I have near where I live, back and forth, ten times a day, past a cow farm. Besides, I won't be able to ride at all for most of the second half of the month. It's hard enough even if you have lots of flat roads and you can work on it for the whole month.

Why does the saving of the route data take so long?

Two tickets open with Strava, one for unable to create a route, one for route creation mapping a completely different stretch.
Also this morning, chugged it up a hill that is a competitive segment in these parts, and Strava did not recognize it. It did yesterday.
Strava is having some issues. Using Endomondo and importing to get the credit. What a drag.
