I have home insurance and that covers against theft but are there any policies that cover against damage say if I crash the bike with me being at fault?

coincidentally, I asked my insurance broker this very question last week, and she replied - in an email which I will forever guard with my life: "You are covered for riding your bicycle recreationally only. (Not covered if ridden in races etc) If you were to collide with another cyclist and damaged the frame of the bike you are covered and for the replacement cost."
Also note that I purchased an added premium for $86/yr listing my bike as a separate item, so this may be why its covered not just against theft, but also against crash. Check with your broker/agent as I assume all are different. Fyi, I am insured through Aviva and there is a $100 deductable.
That sounds like it's part of the general liability portion of your homeowners policy if not then an additional rider on the policy. I'll have to check mine. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks Cdn Guy, that's exactly what I was looking for. Do you know how much you are covered for?

coverage amount is based on the sales receipt I submitted upon acquiring this additional 'rider', so its fully covered! (less the $100 deductible)
Keep in mind again that this is based on what my broker emailed to me. Brokers have been known to provide erroneous information, but since I have it writing, then either the insurance company, or the broker, will have to cover this. Be very clear when communicating with your own broker/agent.
Good luck.
